About the role
We are currently looking for Processing professionals at Specialist level to join our central Process Engineering team and our Robe Valley Operations Engineering team.
The Perth based operational support team provides technical support and delivers process improvement initiatives across Rio Tinto Iron Ore to improve performance of our current and future operations. Occasional site travel is required for this role.
The Robe Valley Specialist Engineer Processing role provides technical direction, support, and expert advice on processing practices to achieve and optimise the production plan over the short to medium time horizon for Robe Valley operations.
Both roles have an accountability to develop and coach the Process Engineers to improve their processing knowledge and support technical decision making.
These roles are a great opportunity for three (2 x Perth-based and 1 x FIFO) experienced and highly motivated Specialist Engineer Process to implement improvements across major Iron Ore operations.
You will:
- Engage stakeholders to provide technical process guidance and support across the value chain
- Identify and implement process improvement initiatives to support current and future strategy
- Provide subject matter expertise for processing unit operations
- Produce unit operation and plant performance analysis and reports as required
What you’ll bring
- Minimum 7-10 years in process engineering or related technical discipline with fixed plant operational experience
- Ability to work across discipline and geographic boundaries, connecting people to collaboratively solve problems
- Experience in teams that have delivered improvements in safety and operating performance, and continuous improvement objectives
- Strong demonstrated experience in fixed plant front end operations, with iron ore Crushing & Screening optimisation and projects viewed favourably.
- Exposure to technical assurance activities across the different phases of strategic studies
- Involvement in processing reviews and investigations with sound knowledge of statistical analysis methods including experience with Minitab or equivalent.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications (Process Engineering, Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering or equivalent)
- Excellent communication and influencing skills
- Current ‘C’ Class drivers’ licence
Training and practice in Six sigma or root cause analysis and hazop facilitation; process control experience, knowledge of SAP and exposure to downtime accounting systems such as Ampla or equivalent will be advantageous. Experience with process flowsheet modelling in Limn, Syscad or equivalent and programming skills in VBA and/ or SQL will also be beneficial.
