We are looking for a Land Analyst to join the US Borax (USB) team. The primary purpose of the role is managing USB’s land and water rights, where the candidate will develop a deep understanding of USB’s landholdings, water rights and operations. Additionally, the candidate will support the Strategic Planning team in the development of land and water rights opportunities and transactions from conception to completion and will support interactions with internal and external parties, including city, county and state officials, developers, brokers, engineering firms, interested lessees and more.

Reporting to the Environmental Superintendent and working in a collaborative environment with the operations and strategic planning teams, you will:
- Own, manage and update all land ownership documentation
- Provide advice and recommendations on master planning and/or rezoning efforts as determined by the land strategy
- Work closely with USB environmental teams on land and water topics
- Update internal reporting, forecasts, and budgets and Geographic Information Systems (GIS system)
- Track, review, and syndicate findings to senior leadership regarding local and regional development.
- Maintain strong business relationships with Kern County Planning & Natural Resources, and state, county, and local economic development offices.
- Participate in the update and execution of the USB land and water strategy and integration into the broader portfolio strategy
- Execute master planning and/or rezoning efforts as determined by the land strategy
- Participate in complex negotiations from conception to cash realization, including all internal approvals, external stakeholder engagement, market studies, due diligence, entitlements, incentives, project management, marketing, and sales
- Interaction in land lease negotiations, and with project managers, development engineers, legal (internal or external), and other stakeholders
- Support the Finance Business Partner, Owens Lake Superintendent and Wilmington Plant Manager with land and water activities at that site, including the associated State Land Leases
What you’ll bring

- Have experience managing documentation
- Be interested in learning and asking questions
- Have internal and external stakeholder engagement and communications experience
- Have experience and/or license in real estate , real estate planning, development, leases, sales, and acquisitions (preferred)
- Have a high school diploma (Business, Finance, Land Use Planning, Engineering degree preferred)
- Have experience in contract writing, interpretation, and negotiation (preferred)
- Have familiarity with Geographic Information Systems (GIS), ALTA surveys, title reports, construction drawings, and environmental due diligence (preferred)
