We are looking for an Engineer – Mine Scheduling to be a key member of the Mine Scheduling and Projects team. The responsibility of this role will be to support the development of short-range mine plans and strategies to maximize value of the Kennecott Open Pit Mine and mitigate business risk.
In this role, you will actively work with multiple stakeholders across the value stream to facilitate best practice and develop mine planning skills in production scheduling. Reporting to the Senior Engineer – Mine scheduling, your functions will include:
- Utilize mine planning and scheduling tools to create optimal mine designs and schedules.
- Evaluate the success of mining plans through effective reconciliation.
- Working with the Concentrator schedulers, Ore Body Knowledge and Integrated Operations teams to optimize the Ore delivery and processing strategies.
- Work with Geotechnical and Geology personnel to assure safe and optimal mine designs and plans.
- Effectively communicate the 2week plan to key stakeholders at varying level of detail, highlighting opportunities and risks.
What you’ll bring
To succeed in this role, you will have:
- S. Degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent
- 2-3+ years’ experience working in a large open pit mine environment as a mine planner or similar role
- Experience working in mine operational or technical teams
- Experience leading the development or implementation of mine plans
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with employees at all levels of the organization
- Strong communication, reasoning, and critical thinking skills
It will also be beneficial if you have:
- Experience with Minesight (Atlas and MSSO) or similar mine design program
- Experience with RTVis
- Intermediate proficiency in MS Office
