Aluminium sans carbone 

La technologie ELYSIS™ représente la plus grande avancée dans l’industrie de l’aluminium depuis 1886. Des efforts sont présentement déployés afin de perfectionner cette nouvelle façon révolutionnaire de produire de l’aluminium, qui élimine le dioxyde de carbone et toutes les autres émissions de gaz à effet de serre du procédé conventionnel d’électrolyse. 

Le procédé ELYSIS élimine l’utilisation d’anodes de carbone, en les remplaçant par des matériaux brevetés. En tant que premier procédé industriel qui émet de l’oxygène comme sous-produit, il a le potentiel de transformer toute l’industrie. 

En 2018, deux producteurs d’aluminium de calibre international, Alcoa et Rio Tinto, ont uni leurs forces afin de créer la coentreprise ELYSIS avec le gouvernement du Québec. Bénéficiant du soutien du gouvernement du Canada et d’Apple, la technologie progresse et elle est actuellement conçue pour être utilisée aussi bien dans des projets de construction que de modernisation d’alumineries. 

ELYSIS a son siège social à Montréal, avec des centres de recherche et de développement à Alma et à Jonquière, au Québec (Canada), ainsi qu’à New Kensington, en Pennsylvanie (États-Unis) et en France. 

Du métal de qualité commerciale produit par ELYSIS durant le processus de R et D est déjà utilisé par Apple dans un éventail de produits (comme le MacBook Pro 16 po et l’iPhone SE), par AB InBev (canettes) et par Audi (roues du e-tron GT, fabriquées par le RONAL Group).

À propos du poste 

Recherchez-vous un rôle dynamique et polyvalent? Nous sommes à la recherche d'un individu talentueux pour occuper le poste de Conseiller principal – performance d’affaires. Ce rôle essentiel soutiendra le Directeur Général Performance dans la coordination et la préparation des rencontres avec le conseil d'administration et ses comités. Vous serez également chargé d'analyser diverses options stratégiques pour l'entreprise, de participer à l’établissement de roadmaps et de les suivre, ainsi que de développer des rapports de performance. De plus, vous contribuerez activement aux communications internes afin de renforcer l'engagement des employés.

Principales activités et responsabilités : 

  • Coordination de rencontres : Vous aiderez à organiser et coordonner les rencontres avec le conseil d'administration et les différents comités. Vous présenterez de manière claire et concise les résultats des analyses, les défis identifiés, et formulerez des recommandations stratégiques pertinentes;
  • Élaboration de rapports de performance: Vous concevrez un système de rapports de performance clairs et efficaces pour suivre et évaluer les progrès par rapport aux objectifs stratégiques de l'entreprise. Vous présenterez de manière concise les principaux indicateurs de performance et les tendances;
  • Conception de feuilles de route (roadmap): Vous participerez à la création de feuilles de route pour divers projets et initiatives, en identifiant les étapes clés et en assurant un suivi régulier de leur avancement;
  • Analyses Stratégiques : Vous contribuerez à l'analyse des options stratégiques de l'entreprise en évaluant les opportunités, les risques et les ressources nécessaires à chaque option;
  • Communication Interne : Vous favoriserez une communication interne efficace en facilitant la circulation fluide de l'information et en prenant part à des initiatives visant à renforcer l'engagement des employés;
  • Gestion du Risque : Vous identifierez, évaluerez et gérerez les risques associés aux projets et initiatives, en coordonnant la mise en œuvre des mesures d'atténuation pour minimiser leur impact sur les résultats;
  • Initiatives Ad Hoc : Vous initierez et dirigerez des initiatives spécifiques pour répondre aux besoins de l'entreprise, en proposant des solutions innovantes.

À propos de vous

Exigences :

Votre expérience et votre éthique professionnelle solides parlent d'elles-mêmes. Vous devez posséder :

  • Au moins 5 années d'expérience dans un poste similaire;
  • Posséder un Baccalauréat dans un domaine pertinent;
  • Une expertise avérée dans l'analyse de données provenant de sources variées, avec une capacité à interpréter des résultats complexes pour identifier des opportunités d'amélioration;
  • Une bonne compréhension des principes et pratiques d'amélioration des affaires;
  • Expérience dans la coordination de rencontres au niveau de la haute direction;
  • Expérience de la direction d'équipes dans des contextes opérationnels;
  • Expérience dans la gestion de projets et du changement;
  • Expérience dans l'industrie de l'aluminium (un atout);
  • Maîtriser les logiciels de la suite Microsoft Office (Power Point);

Un partenariat de classe mondiale sans précédent entre deux grands pionniers de l’industrie de l’aluminium – Alcoa et Rio Tinto – a donné lieu à la création d’ELYSIS en 2018. ELYSIS a démontré sa capacité à produire de l’aluminium de qualité commerciale auprès d’utilisateurs finaux allant d’Apple à Audi, et la technologie est actuellement conçue pour être utilisée aussi bien dans des projets de construction que de modernisation d’alumineries. 

ELYSIS™ procure également des avantages additionnels, en réduisant les coûts d’exploitation des alumineries et en augmentant la production de métal par rapport aux cuves conventionnelles de même taille.  

Emplacement 

ELYSIS est une entreprise canadienne dont le siège social est situé à Montréal, au Québec. Elle est également implantée à Alma et à Jonquière, au Québec. Au site d’Alma, les efforts visant à éliminer toutes les émissions directes de gaz à effet de serre du procédé d’électrolyse de l’aluminium ont largement progressé en juin 2021, avec la construction des premières cuves prototypes à l’échelle industrielle utilisant la technologie d’anodes inertes. Au site de Jonquière, l’équipe travaille au perfectionnement de la technologie au Centre de recherche et de développement ELYSIS, situé au sein du Complexe Jonquière de Rio Tinto.

A New Era for the Aluminium Industry — ELYSIS 

Carbon Free Aluminium 

The ELYSIS™ technology is the greatest breakthrough in the aluminium industry since its beginnings in 1886. Work is underway now to further develop this revolutionary new way to produce aluminium, eliminating carbon dioxide and all other greenhouse gas emissions from the traditional smelting process. 

The ELYSIS process eliminates the use of carbon anodes, replacing those with proprietary materials. It is the first industrial process that emits oxygen as its by-product and has the potential to transform an entire industry. 

In 2018, two international aluminium producers, Alcoa and Rio Tinto, came together to form the ELYSIS joint venture with the provincial government of Québec. With support from the Canadian Government and Apple, the technology is progressing and is currently being designed to support the construction of new smelters or retrofits. 

ELYSIS is headquartered in Montréal, with Technology Research & Development locations in Alma, Québec, (Canada), in Jonquière, Québec, (Canada), in New Kensington, Pennsylvania, (United States), and in France. 

Commercial quality metal produced by ELYSIS during the ongoing R&D process is already being used by Apple in a variety of products (The 16-inch MacBook Pro and the iPhone SE); Ab InBEV (cans) and Audi (e-tron GT wheels produced by the RONAL Group).

About the position  

Are you seeking a dynamic and versatile role? We are looking for a talented individual to fill the position of Senior Advisor – Business Performance. This pivotal role will support the Performance General Manager in coordinating and preparing meetings with the board of directors and its committees. You will also be responsible for analyzing various strategic options for the company, participating in roadmap development and tracking, as well as developing performance reports. Additionally, you will actively contribute to internal communications to enhance employee engagement.

Key activities and responsibilities: 

  • Meeting Coordination: You will assist in organizing and coordinating meetings with the board of directors and various committees. You will present the analyses results, identify challenges, and formulate relevant strategic recommendations in a clear and concise manner.
  • Performance Reporting: You will design a system of a clear and effective performance reports to track and evaluate progress against the company's strategic objectives. You will present key performance indicators and trends.
  • Roadmap Design: You will participate in creating roadmaps for various projects and initiatives by identifying key milestones and ensuring regular monitoring of their progress.
  • Strategic Analysis: You will contribute to analyzing the company's strategic options by assessing opportunities, risks, and resources required for each option.
  • Internal Communication: You will promote effective internal communication by facilitating the smooth flow of information and participating in initiatives aimed at enhancing employee engagement.
  • Risk Management: You will identify, assess, and manage risks associated with projects and initiatives, coordinating the implementation of mitigation measures to minimize their impact on outcomes.
  • Ad Hoc Initiatives: You will initiate and lead specific initiatives to address the needs of the company, proposing innovative solutions.

About you

Your solid experience and professional ethics speak for themselves. You must possess:

  • Have à minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Proven expertise in data analysis from various sources, with the ability to interpret complex results to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Good understanding of business improvement principles and practices.
  • Experience in coordinating meetings at the executive level.
  • Experience in leading teams in an operational context.
  • Project and change management experience.
  • Experience in the aluminum industry (an asset).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite software (Power Point)
  • Fluent in French and English, both written and spoken. Our organization is a global company and the duties of this position require daily collaboration with colleagues, teams or partners based outside Quebec.

About the Location 

ELYSIS is a Canadian company headquartered in Montreal, Quebec. It also has facilities in Alma and Jonquière, Quebec. At the Alma site, efforts to eliminate all direct greenhouse gas emissions from the aluminum electrolysis process made significant progress in June 2021, with the construction of the first industrial-scale prototype cells using inert anode technology. At the Jonquière site, the team works on perfecting the technology at the ELYSIS Research and Development Centre, located within Rio Tinto's Jonquière Complex.

We’re a mining and metals company with operations in 35 countries around the world. You’ll be part of a friendly, welcoming community close to our mining operation. You’ll be home after each shift to enjoy your life away from work.

Flying into a site, staying at a camp for the duration of your roster, then flying home again. We call this FIFO.

BIBO

For certain sites, you will take a bus or a boat into the site, stay at a camp, and then bus or boat out again.

At this stage, we will let you know if you have been successful. If you have been, we’ll need to conduct a couple of checks, such as a background or security check. You may also need to do a medical assessment depending on the role you have applied for.
