About the Role
We are looking for a Programme Manager – Business Improvements Pilbara Projects to join our Perth team.
The Programme Manager – Business Improvement Pilbara Projects – is responsible for leading the deployment & sustainability of the Rio Tinto Safe Production System (SPS) for Pilbara Projects. The role will support implementing and integrating the Pilbara Projects Management Operating System (MOS), drive improvement, lead complex problem solving, and ensure consistency and replication of best practice across the Pilbara Projects business.
This role partners with the Pilbara Projects SLT, providing coaching and strategic support to successfully embed SPS for Pilbara Projects with a One Team One Goal mindset.

Reporting to the MD Projects – APAC and working in a challenging and exciting environment, you will:

Implement SPS for Pilbara Projects focussing on key initiatives to support the Pilbara Projects strategy at a Project and Programme level

Support the development of productivity performance metrics and data visualisation tools that enable the robust monitoring of performance
-
Implementi the SPS business improvement framework to support improved productivity in Projects under study and in execution
-
Working with the project teams to identify cost and schedule protection / reduction initiatives and putting in place systems to drive these to completion

Providing coaching in business improvement practices to project team members and influencing stakeholders to deliver results quickly and with maximum value
-
Interpreting cost drivers to inform strategic thinking and the evaluation and prioritisation of initiatives
-
Undertaking KPI analysis and analysing data trends to recommend initiatives and project work to improve productivity, whilst reporting on business improvement pipeline and value delivered

Leading the delivery of large, complex problem solving and improvement initiatives at a portfolio level, drive escalation from L3 to L1 MOS boards (Project to MD escalation)

Share lessons learnt, replicate and standardise practices to drive productivity improvements

Provide practice coaching and capability support to embed SPS intent and value expectations
-
Maintain and regularly update the improvement roadmap for the Pilbara Projects department, ensuring it remains aligned with Safe Production System practices and principles.

Adapt the thinking way of SPS Elements, Pillars and Practices to fit the vision and improvement journey for Pilbara Projects.

Leadership experience – Leading medium to large teams utilising lean management techniques

Collaborative and engaging interpersonal style with experience influencing across a diverse range of stakeholders

Demonstrated experience working with teams to solve complex problems and deliver of high value improvement projects

A background in Lean implementation including coaching of project and senior leaders to deliver cultural change

Experience with coaching and mentoring

Business Analysis Skills

Strong commercial acumen

Tertiary qualification in Commerce, Engineering or related discipline

Extensive experience implementing and coaching business improvement processes within the construction, mining, manufacturing or heavy industry
