About the role:
The Central Control Room (CCR) team is responsible for monitoring and controlling all Operations execution tasks covering the value change from Development (activities to prepare an area for drilling) to Train load out (TLO) to ensure that the plan of the day is achieved. CCR team will comprise a multi-functional team comprising national and expatriate members. Early central control operations will use a temporary control room located in the Oueleba office facility, with the team moving to the permanent room in April 2026. The permanent facility is in the central operations facility beside the main administration building.
Evolving monitoring and control maturity at Simandou from ‘basic’ to ‘leading practice’ will take several years. The phase to embed ‘basic’ maturity is referred to as the ‘commissioning phase’ of the CCR and is estimated to extend to late 2026 / 2027 (first ore through Train load out).
Reporting to the Superintendent CCR Operations, the Specialist Control Room Operations will first support the commissioning phase of both the temporary control room and permanent CCR, focusing CCR Operations across Mine Processing Facility (one FTE) and Open Pit Operations (one FTE). Commissioning phase will include aspects of people (recruitment, onboarding and training), process (operating philosophies, procedures and practices) and technology (Hardware and applications). Following commissioning phase, the Specialist Control Room Operations with support evolving the Simandou CCR towards leading practice monitoring and control.
Responsibilities:

Develop training programs for all CCR controller roles, in collaboration with vendors, Simfer Training and D&T CoE.

Coordinate training programs with internal stakeholders and vendors.
-
Conduct on-going training and assessment of CCR controller team, including maintaining the CCR Operations competency matrix in collaboration with the Simfer training team.
-
Primary point of contact, on behalf of CCR Operations Teams, with vendors and IS&T for all applications used by Mine Processing Facility controllers.

Primary point of contact, on behalf of CCR Operations Teams, with the hardware technology maintenance team (including 3rd parties) and for all the hardware associated with applications used by Mine Processing Facility controllers and Mine Processing team.

Development of all operating philosophies, procedures and practices for CCR Operations during commissioning phase.

Ownership of all operating philosophies, procedures and practices for CCR Operations, including providing on-going support to the CCR Operations Supervisors to maintain and continuously improve operating philosophies, procedures and practices.

Owner of KPI reports used by Mine Processing Facility controllers and CCR Operations Supervisors.

Other tasks as directed, from time to time, by Superintendent CCR Operations

Assume responsibilities of CCR Operations Superintendents during times of absence
What you’ll bring:

Bachelor’s degree in mining related discipline (for example Mining, Geo Sciences, Mechanical or Electrical) or equivalent Fixed Plant Operations industry experience (+15 yrs)

Professional experience in mining or other heavy industry +10 yrs

Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills

Experience developing technical and practical competency in others through positive learning and development methods

Working knowledge of Operational Technology (hardware and associated applications)

Strong passion for the profession of mine monitoring and control (MM&C)

Strong teamwork and relationship-building skills.

Experience coordinating delivery reporting programs on behalf of operational stakeholders

À propos du Projet Simandou Sud
Le projet de minerai de fer de Simandou (Blocs 3 & 4) est situé en République de Guinée, en Afrique de l'Ouest. Il s’agit d’un gisement de minerai de fer de haute qualité et de classe mondiale et représente l'une des plus grandes réserves connues de minerai de fer au monde.
Le projet Simandou Sud opère dans le cadre de la coentreprise Simfer où le gouvernement de Guinée détient 15 %, Rio Tinto et Chinalco Iron Ore Holdings (CIOH) , qui détiennent respectivement 45,05 % et 39,95 % de Simandou, continuent de travailler avec le gouvernement Guinéen pour explorer les options permettant de valoriser le gisement de minerai de fer de Simandou, ainsi que des mécanismes potentiels de collaboration sur les infrastructures requises au développement du Projet et aux opérations minières.

Le projet est détenu par Simfer S.A., coentreprise entre Rio Tinto (45,05 %), Chinalco (39,95 %) et le gouvernement de la Guinée (15 %). Rio Tinto est l’exploitant désigné des blocs 3 et 4 de Simandou. Ces blocs, situés dans les montagnes de Simandou, représentent l’un des plus importants gisements inexploités de minerai de fer à haute teneur actuellement, avec des ressources indiquées dépassant 1,7 milliard de tonnes.
La mine créera plusieurs milliers d’emplois directs et indirects, avec une valeur économique se chiffrant dans les milliards de dollars au cours de sa durée de vie estimée. Simandou sera également un moteur de croissance économique et s’appuiera sur les meilleures pratiques en vue d’assurer un milieu de travail sûr, durable et respectueux de l’environnement.
