Senior Advisor Network Engineering – Governance
Location: Perth, WA

Rio Tinto is seeking a Senior Advisor Network Engineer – Governance to join our dynamic IS&T team and help drive innovation, efficiency, and excellence across our global operations.
About the Role

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys making connections, embracing challenges, and being the link between business stakeholders and technical delivery.
We’re looking for someone who has a passion for uncovering what different areas of the business need and helping us shape and deliver quality solutions to fulfill it.
Having an understanding of networking principles would be beneficial but is not essential – what is more significant is your curiosity and willingness to grow with the team.
You will help support broader business goals by bringing your ability to engage with people and align requirements to our existing technical capabilities.
We want someone who can bring their spark and attention to detail to enhance our connection to the business and provide oversight to the delivery process to ensure outcomes that adhere to our standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Scoping and shaping potential project delivery works for Network Platforms
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to translate strategy and business requirements through to the delivery of aligned technical solutions
- Contribute to the evolution of network strategy, standards, and roadmaps
- Contribute to the design and delivery of impactful solutions while ensuring consistency in standards and practices across platforms and regions
- Drive continuous improvement and adoption of new technologies
- Manage vendor relationships, project scoping, and budgeting
- Facilitating feasibility studies, RFPs, and technology evaluations
- Creation of value stories
- Supporting us to find better ways to meet our objectives
- Foster a culture of trust within the team and the business
- Ensure compliance with HSE principles and embed Rio Tinto’s core values: Care, Courage, and Curiosity
What You’ll Bring
Required:
- A solid background in IT, OCM, or technical project delivery
- Demonstrated leadership qualities
- Experience working with technical teams and stakeholder engagement
- Strong communication and influencing skills, especially with senior stakeholders
Desirable:
- Understanding of Agile delivery practices
- Experience delivering projects in remote or isolated environments
- Familiarity with embedding HSE principles in work practices
- Involvement with rolling out technical changes in global environments
- Background in technical projects, IT operations or network engineering
- Some understanding of mining concepts and terminology
- Awareness of concepts related to Lean Six Sigma, design thinking, PMBOK/BABOK
