We are seeking an Events & Stakeholder Engagement Specialist who brings strategic vision, creativity, and a growth mindset to every project. You will leverage your professional experience in events to independently deliver high-impact stakeholder events, while building strong relationships with senior leaders and diverse teams.
Your collaborative approach, curiosity, and drive for continuous improvement will help shape innovative event experiences that strengthen Rio Tinto’s reputation. Success in this role requires exceptional organisational skills, the ability to remain calm and solutions-focused under pressure, and a passion for sharing knowledge and driving positive change across the organisation.
This role is a great opportunity for an individual who can provide event management experience and structure to the Rio Tinto events program, delivering high quality outcomes. We are looking for someone who will demonstrate highly collaborative behaviour and an ability to derive value from the broader organisation through sharing knowledge, experience, and skills. Reporting to the Head of Events & Stakeholder Engagement and as a key member of the Events & Stakeholder Engagement team, you will:

Uphold Rio Tinto’s events and stakeholder engagement practice by delivering events to a consistent standard of excellence

Oversee event activity on the West Coast including events, sponsorships, memberships and local event/communications activation in the Perth hub, occasionally involving travel

Manage events from developing initial concepts through to completion and evaluation

Work with Heads of Events & Stakeholder Engagement to identify event management opportunities, spot issues and drive success

Provide event management guidance to relevant Product Groups and Functions

Track and manage attendance, project plans, budgets and approvals

Ensure event budgets are created in advance, adhered to and reviewed following events

Meet with stakeholders to plan, execute and manage event engagements

Research and negotiate with vendors (sponsorships, catering, venue, suppliers) ensuring quality and value is maintained

Manage all event operations including event planning, overseeing progress, briefing materials, close out reports and managing requirements as they arise

Ensure contracted parties and event attendees are aware of and abide by safety standards and protocols

Raise Purchase Orders as required and complete timely close out to ensure vendor payment

Conduct post-event surveys to understand success and identify areas for improvement
What you’ll bring

Over 3 years’ experience in managing high-quality stakeholder engagement events for large companies, agencies, or government departments

A demonstrated collegiate approach and proven track record of excellent teamwork with company leaders and senior peers

Excellent strategic capability and a proven ability to deliver results in a complex environment

Dynamic, energetic individual who has strong organisational, planning, and problem-solving capability

Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with relevant stakeholder groups

A high level of diplomacy and the ability to manage conflict and gain consensus

Ability to remain calm and considered under pressure

Strong written and verbal communication skills

A structured and organised thinker who is comfortable working at pace
