About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and high performing Specialist Mining Engineer to join our Mine Development Studies team within Technical Services.
Working within a highly experienced team, with the support of industry leading systems and processes you will be responsible for:
· Medium to long term mine planning support to our Pilbara operations and studies (Conceptual, Order of Magnitude, Pre-feasibility and Feasibility)
· Mine design and optimisation include rehabilitation and closure design
· Strategic pit and dump development strategy
· Mine scheduling and sequencing (medium to long-term/life of mine)
· Approval and resource development coordination
· Support to Ore Reserve estimation and reporting
· Assist with ongoing improvement initiatives
You will be given opportunities to learn and grow as a technical professional.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will have:
· Tertiary qualification in Engineering or equivalent
· 7+ years of relevant experience in mine planning and engineering
· Demonstrated experience in medium to long-term mine planning and scheduling, mine optimisation and design from concepts to implementation including closure-related planning in a large open pit mining environment
· High degree of computer literacy and proficiency in mine planning, optimisation, design and scheduling software (Vulcan/Deswik/Datamine, Whittle/DeswikGo, ATS or equivalent)
· Strong understanding of the fundamental concepts that underpin value in the mining industry
· Ability to engage and collaborate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders
· A current C Class driver’s licence is required
This role is perfect for someone who thrives on a challenge and is willing to be creative when solving technical problems. It will also be beneficial if you have:
· Experience in large-scale surface mining operations with strong operational and fleet experience
· Involvement in mining studies (Conceptual, Order of Magnitude, Pre-feasibility and Feasibility)
· Strategic/life of mine scheduling experience
