About the role
The role of an Operator is vital to the success of our business. You will have the opportunity to build on your experience and be responsible for supporting our operational departments to ensure the safe and sustainable production of aluminium.
As part of this role, you will be working in a hot and physically demanding environment, doing manual work that will challenge you, but best of all, you will be part of a tight-knit and supportive team. Some of the key responsibilities of an Operator at the smelter include:

Operating cranes to set anodes and tap metal and other tasks to tend the cells

Process operations including cell dressings, filling cell ore hoppers, tapping and transferring bath
-
Driving mobile equipment as required (including forklifts)
-
Process operations which include using various control panels, casting hot metal, operating fixed plant equipment, using scabble guns, isolation and de-isolation of equipment for maintenance teams, process sampling and general housekeeping

Metal transportation using specialised equipment, furnace preparation, casting pit operation, ingot machine operation, product inspection and quality control, operation of cutting saws, fabrication of M-straps fabrication and dross handling
What you’ll bring
To be considered for this role, you will have:
-
Experience working in a labour-intensive role, where you have worked in hot environments, as well as working at heights and in confined spaces

A current driver’s licence (forklift licence and other tickets are highly desirable)

A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
-
A demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team and to autonomously manage your workload
-
Ability to work a shift roster of 12-hour shifts across days and nights (previous experience working shifts rosters is highly desirable)
