About the role
The implementation of Modern Enterprise Resource Planning (MERP) is a critical step in Rio Tinto’s transformation journey, moving from outdated technology (ECC6) to a new, digitally enabled lean core platform (S/4) and application ecosystem. As this is a business led, Group-wide transformation effort, it requires a strong team to bridge the business and technology landscapes. From contract to cash, every aspect of our operations will benefit from this modernization that offers an exciting opportunity to deliver a digital foundation that will stand Rio Tinto up well for ongoing digital transformation. Rio Tinto is look to deploying a modern ERP as core and supporting Best of Breed / Best of Suite technologies across processes.
The role will be responsible for successful delivery of work items supporting MOVE & SELL Commercial Reports and Analytics applications on enterprise platforms and solutions. Key subject areas include Deal and Contract management, Order administration, Transportation management (deliveries and shipments), Invoicing(billing) and receivables, underpinned by Pricing, Credit Management, Customer, Product and Logistics master data.
Accountable for shaping and delivering the future-state reporting landscape for the Move & Sell workstream within the Modern ERP program. The role provides subject matter expertise across reporting and analytics, ensuring reporting solutions are aligned with standardised processes, data governance principles, and clean-core objectives.
This role works closely with business stakeholders, GPOs (Stewards and Custodian), Project Business Improvement Leads, delivery managers, system integrators, and MERP technical teams, Commercial Digital data Management team to prioritise reporting demands, manage remediation and new-build initiatives, and reduce duplication and bespoke reporting. The scope includes native and custom SAP reports, Enterprise Governed Reporting applications ((BW/4HANA), select governed reporting datasets (Power BI), and other governed reporting tools and platform.
Reporting to the Modern ERP Move and SELL GPO Workstream Lead, as the design and decision authority for Move & Sell reporting within agreed governance guardrails you will:
Reporting Ownership and Governance
-
Own and prioritise the Move & Sell reporting backlog, covering remediation and new reporting requirements.

Apply disciplined governance, quality assurance, and design controls across reporting deliverables in Modern ERP.
-
Define reporting scope across delivery teams, conduct inventory and impact assessments across SAP, EGRP, BW/4HANA, and selected Power BI landscapes. Delivery teams include Modern ERP Governed reporting and analytics. Support industrialisation of Digital data reporting and end-user Citizen Development through Governed reporting frameworks.

Champion simplification and standardisation across reporting solutions.
Delivery & Integration
-
Partner with delivery managers, architects, and technical teams to translate business reporting needs into scalable, governed solutions.

Oversee and QA reporting remediation activities including:
-
BW/4HANA modelled and data remediation
-
SAP data load and reconciliation support
-
Selected Power BI dataset and report remediation
-
Retrofit of critical reports into the m-ERP landscape
-
Ensure end-to-end traceability from business requirements through to SIT, UAT, and cutover readiness.

Reporting and transaction data
-
Work with the GPO Data Lead, Process/Data Stewards/Custodian team to ensure the MERP data simplification objectives are executed successfully during S4 upgrade.

Ensure the MERP real-time reporting capability is adopted and minimize custom development and workarounds to meet user needs.
Change Management and Training
-
Lead change management efforts to ensure smooth adoption of new and revised SAP S/4 Hana data products.
-
Support training and change activities to increase adoption of standard reporting and self-service analytics.
Project Oversight and Quality Assurance
-
Work closely with PMO, Workstream Lead, Process & data leads to ensure that SAP S/4 Hana implementation requirement is delivered on timely basis.

Review and endorse project documentation to support the development of MERP functional design specifications.

Ensure that data design follows best practices, clean core i.e. minimizing customizations and ensuring system flexibility for future enhancements.

Monitor key project metrics, KPIs, and ensure that process performance aligns with targets.
Risk Management

Identify and actively support PMO and Workstream lead in managing risks and issues related to process design, providing mitigation strategies.

Actively support PMO and workstream lead in developing mitigation strategies for risks associated with process redesigns, data migration, or system integration.
Continuous Improvement
-
Foster a culture of continuous improvement by regularly reviewing and optimizing data products. ·

Contribute to evolution of enterprise reporting platforms and communities of practice.

Ensure that future system upgrades or enhancements align with the company's evolving needs.
What you will need for the role
To succeed in this role, you will have:
-
University degree in either a technical or commercial discipline.
-
Preferably 8 to 14+ years of relevant experience with a reporting, data or analytics background.
-
Knowledge of Business Metrics and KPIs used in process.
-
Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyse complex data and propose effective solutions.
Business Data Experience
-
Experienced in usage of SAP as the primary data source for the design of reporting or dashboard type solutions consumed by a variety of stakeholder groups varying from Operational to Senior Management levels.
-
Demonstrated strong knowledge in commercial data sourced from SAP contract to cash process execution (including sales and distribution, logistics & Supply Chain) including relevant SAP S4Hana tables or CDS.
-
Prior experience working in projects that drive reporting standardization/simplification or implementation of SAP reporting systems.
-
Experienced working with intersection of teams across business, data, and technology to simplify, standardise, and industrialise reporting solutions across SAP and non-SAP platforms.
-
Knowledge of Commercial strategic value pillars, value tree and associated underlying SAP data that supports the metric, experienced with Strategic Enterprise management is beneficial.
Leadership
-
Proven track record in leading teams (with internal and external team members) and fostering a strong team culture with a networked operating model. Preferably in global and cross time zone context. ·

Worked in projects construct and had demonstrated ability to drive success and desired outcome.
SAP Expertise & Implementation experience
-
Preferred to have strong knowledge of ERP systems and their reporting capabilities (specifically S/4 HANA, BW/4 HANA, CDS, BDC, Datasphere.
-
Experienced as key appointment holder in large implementation project using project methodologies like Waterfall or Agile.
-
Experience in using reporting tools such as SAC, PowerBI with SAP.

Experience in implementing of BW/4 HANA or Datalake type solutions is preferred
-
Knowledge in application of AI especially in context of SAC or other reporting platform is preferred.
Relationship and communication

Required ability to build strong relationships with users and senior stakeholders’ leadership.
