About the role
We are looking for an Advisor, Project Controls to develop, maintain and report integrated schedules and cost analysis for project studies and execution. With a strong focus on cost, planning and scheduling, you will help project teams understand progress, risks, changes and forecast impacts so they can make informed delivery decisions.
This is a great opportunity for an experienced project controls professional who combines cost analysis and scheduling capability with strong stakeholder partnership and practical problem-solving. You will work under the direction of and support Senior Cost and Schedule Advisors to recommend solutions to complex planning challenges, support process improvements and provide informal guidance to other team members.
You will report to the Manager, Project Controls and work as a key member of an integrated project controls team.
What you’ll be doing
- Assisting with the creation, maintenance and reporting on the project cost, plan and schedule.
- Participating in project cost and schedule review meetings and updates spreadsheets and schedules.
- Assisting in maintaining the integrity of integrated project schedules.
- Supporting development of monthly cost and schedule reports, including proper analysis.
- Assisting in the development and update of progress and commodity curves.
- Assisting in cost and schedule development and monitoring for assigned areas.
- Supporting compliance with standardized processes, systems and tools.
- Maintaining the relationship with contracting and other project planning stakeholders.
- Collaborates with the cost engineering and estimating groups to ensure that implications of changes are well articulated.
- Assisting with analyzing and reporting implications of changes to plan and schedule.
- Providing technical support to project stakeholders.
About you

- A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team.
- Extensive experience in project planning, cost and scheduling within an industrial, mining, construction or similarly complex project environment.
- Demonstrated proficiency with SAP, Oracle Primavera P6 and experience developing, maintaining and analyzing costs and integrated project schedules.
- Experience integrating contractor schedules into a master schedule and supporting cost and resource loading and schedule integration with cost systems.
- Strong knowledge of project controls practices, including planning, scheduling, cost performance measurement, risk and change management, and cost-schedule integration.
- Strong analytical, communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to work independently, solve complex problems and provide guidance to others. Experience with Deswik planning software is considered an asset.

Where you’ll be working
Rio Tinto Kennecott is a fully integrated copper operation located just outside Salt Lake City, Utah. The operation includes a mine, concentrator, smelter and refinery and produces copper, precious metals including gold and silver, molybdenum, tellurium and sulfuric acid. Kennecott has mined and processed minerals from the Bingham Canyon ore body since 1903.
