Nous sommes à la recherche d’une personne autonome et motivée détenant le titre de comptable qui se joindra à notre Groupe de clôture et de production de rapports pour les entités de production minière. La personne soutiendra, surveillera et dirigera l’exécution des processus de comptabilité financière dans le cadre de l’équipe mondiale des services partagés. Elle cherchera également à aller au-delà des services comptables habituels : elle nous aidera à mettre en place l’organisation des finances numériques de demain.

Ce poste demande de collaborer avec nos partenaires de sous-traitance et exige donc d’excellentes compétences en engagement des clients et en conformité ainsi que la capacité de réagir dans un milieu opérationnel évoluant rapidement. Relevant du responsable de l’équipe clôture et production de rapports, votre rôle comprendra, sans s’y limiter :

  • Exécuter les processus de comptabilité financière tout au long du cycle mensuel (y compris la préparation des états financiers à la fin du mois)
  • Gérer et travailler en partenariat avec notre fournisseur externe pour s’assurer que nous respectons les principes de base, que nous disposons d’un mécanisme d’examen solide sur des pertes et profits, du bilan et de la balance de vérification, leurs journaux respectifs et le processus de fin de mois dans son ensemble
  • Assurer la liaison avec des partenaires internes dans le cadre de la gestion quotidienne du rendement
  • Contribuer à la résolution des problèmes au quotidien et à leur amélioration à long terme en coordination avec l’équipe hors frontière et conformément au modèle d’exploitation des services financiers des services et soutien administratifs
  • Mesurer la performance par rapport à des ICP définis pour votre champ de compétences et présenter l’examen mensuel du processus aux parties prenantes et à la direction générale
  • Assurer la conformité périodique à la matrice de contrôle et de risque, appuyer les vérificateurs internes et externes et assurer un lien avec eux lors des vérifications de SOX et de justification aux fins de conformité de l’environnement
  • Améliorer nos processus de façon continue en faisant preuve d’innovation grâce à l’analyse des données et aux solutions numériques
  • Participer et diriger des projets portant sur de nouveaux mandats à venir pour les services et soutien administratifs : nouveaux clients, mandats (c.-à-d. unités commerciales et processus qui ne sont pas en place actuellement) et nouveaux services
  • Veiller à ce que la documentation (politiques, procédures, etc.) soit mise à jour adéquatement pour les activités hors frontière et sur place

Votre contribution

  •  Bonnes connaissances en comptabilité/IFRS, et titre de CPA ou équivalent
  • Une expérience de 4 à 6 ans dans un poste similaire
  • Maitriser le français et l’anglais à l’oral et à l’écrit. Rio Tinto est une entreprise mondiale et les fonctions de ce poste exigent une collaboration quotidiennement avec des collègues, des équipes ou des partenaires basés à l’extérieur du Québec
  • Connaissance approfondie de SAP et expérience avec HFM. Une connaissance des processus d’affaires (tels que la comptabilité générale, les comptes créditeurs/débiteurs, les rapports et la planification financière, la comptabilité et l’analyse intersociétés) est grandement souhaitable
  • Excellent esprit d’analyse et de résolution de problèmes
  • Avoir déjà collaboré et travaillé avec des partenaires d’affaires (partenaire hors frontières)
  • Capacité d’analyser et de définir les problèmes opérationnels afin de déterminer les solutions appropriées sur le plan des opérations ou des processus
  • Perspicacité et compétences en matière d’amélioration des affaires
  • Solides compétences techniques dans la suite MS Office, une bonne maîtrise d’Excel est un atout
  • Capacité d’adaptation au changement et capacité de travailler de manière autonome et en équipe

Advisor, Closing & Reporting

  • Join our global shared services team to assist, oversee, and lead financial accounting processes.
  • Drive continuous process improvement through data analysis and innovative service expansion.
  • Permanent role based in Montreal.

About the role

We are looking for an autonomous and motivated Accountant to join our Closing and Reporting group for Production mining entities. The person will support, monitor and lead the delivery of our financial accounting processes as part of the global shared services team, and will also seek to go beyond standard accounting service; this person will help us deliver the digital finance organization of tomorrow.

Working with our outsource partners; this role requires strong customer engagement and compliance skills, and the agility to respond to a rapidly evolving business environment. Reporting to the Closing & Reporting team leader, your scope will include (but not limited to) below:

  • Delivery of the financial accounting processes throughout the monthly cycle (including the delivery of the financial statements on month end)
  • Managing and partnering with our outsource provider in making sure we are adhered to the basic principles, ensure strong review mechanism over PL/BS/TB, respective journals and month end process as a whole
  • Liaising with internal partners on day to day performance management
  • Contribute to immediate day-to-day issue resolution and to their long term improvement in coordination with the offshore team and in alignment with the BS&S FS operating model
  • Measuring performance against define KPIs for your scope and presenting the monthly review of process to stakeholders and top management
  • Ensure periodic RACM compliance as applicable, Support and liaise with Internal/External Auditors during SOX and Substantiate audits, so as to ensure a fully compliant environment
  • Continuously improving our processes with an innovative mindset by leveraging data analytics and digital solutions
  • Participate and lead in projects on new upcoming additional scope in BS&S: new customers, scope (i.e. Business Units and processes not currently covered) and new services
  • Ensuring documentation (policies, procedures etc.) is appropriately maintained on offshore activities and onshore activities

What you’ll bring

  • Good accounting/IFRS knowledge with a CPA or equivalent
  • Guideline of 4 to 6 years of experience in a similar role
  • Fluent in French and English, both written and spoken. Rio Tinto is a global company, and the duties of this position require daily collaboration with colleagues, teams or partners based outside Quebec
  • Extensive knowledge of SAP and experience with HFM. Business processes (such as General Accounting, Accounts Payable/Receivable, Financial Planning & Reporting, Intercompany Accounting and Analytics) is highly desirable
  • Strong analytical and problem solving mindset
  • Partnered and worked with a BPO (outsourcing partner) delivery center
  • Ability to analyze and define business problems, to identify appropriate operational or process solutions
  • Business Improvement mindset and skills
  • Strong technical skills in MS Office suite, proficiency in excel is a plus
  • Ability to adapt to change, and the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
