We are looking for a Principal Advisor to join our Growth & Ventures team, under our Development & Technology BU.
Growth & Ventures combines our existing Venture Capital fund with a dedicated Growth team focused on technology-led Incubation and Scale-ups – we have a global mandate across all part of our business (and adjacent) to create new businesses for the group from the best ideas, whether from start-ups, universities or internal ideas

Reporting to the Head of Growth & Ventures and working in a collaborative and exciting environment, you will:
- Challenge the status quo, think of new opportunities support our start-ups with a “founder first” approach
- Support the leads across both our Growth team, including incubation and commercial scale-up opportunities, as well as Ventures in making new investments
- Pro-actively create investment hypotheses for, scout and evaluate relevant opportunities from a variety of sources aligned to our strategy and focus areas
- Support the lifecycle of investment processes from helping form the hypothesis, scouting, evaluation and execution
- Support the incubation process from ideation to proof of concept, and thereafter ultimately to commercial scale-ups
- Manage and support financial modelling and write excellent (and brief) investment memos
- Support managing the overall VC portfolio, including active management of exposure across maturity, theme, risk, cash flow and other considerations to optimise its risk adjusted return
- Bring together and collaborate with Product Group, Functional and R&D stakeholders to leverage the capabilities and expertise relevant to each project
- Contribute to a team culture of inclusiveness and foster collaboration, and be a relentless supporter of risk-taking by “playing to win” vs. “playing not to lose”
- Communicate complicated ideas in a simple way (verbal, written, slides) to a variety of internal and external stakeholders and senior leaders
What you’ll bring
- A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
- Degree in a commercial or technical discipline
- Strong strategic thinking, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
- Outstanding communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills
- A minimum of 5-10 years of professional experience, with a proven track record in R&D, start-ups, incubation, venture capital or similar
- Strong understanding of valuing start-ups and venture capital investments, ideally in the context of heavy industry innovation
