About the role
We are looking for an Electrical Technician who will be based at the Ranger Rehabilitation Project in Jabiru. You will carry out electrical and instrumentation maintenance and repairs to meet statutory requirements and business plans in a safe & sustainable manner. You will work cooperatively as an effective Team Member. You will always be seeking continuous improvement opportunities and discuss with your Team Leader how to implement agreed improvements.
This role is a great opportunity for someone who has an Electrical Trade background, strong work ethic and a ‘can do’ attitude along with good Power Station and/or Fixed Plant experience.
Working 12-hour days and reporting to the Supervisor for Electrical Maintenance, you will be:
- Relevant dual trade electrical/instrument trades qualification
- 3 years’ experience in mining or heavy industry with exposure to crushers, conveyors, grinding mills, thickeners, pumps, compressors, power stations, high voltage reticulation and distribution, high voltage switching, high voltage system maintenance, low voltage reticulation and distribution, VSD’s, Allan Bradley PLC’s, Honeywell DCS systems, all facets of instrumentation found in a mineral processing plant
- Safety driven in all aspects of their employment
- Good communications skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Attention to detail and focus on quality
- Computer skills
- Ability to interpret electrical drawings
- Solid fault-finding ability
About you
It will also be beneficial if you have:
- C1 License
- Forklift license
- Elevated work platform certificate
- High Voltage Operators qualification
- Working at heights
- Remote work experience with exposure to working in hot and humid climates
- SAP computer experience

Who we are
Energy Resources of Australia Ltd (ERA) is a publicly listed company with Rio Tinto as its major shareholder. ERA, established in 1979, previously mined and produced uranium oxide from its Ranger mine in the beautiful and rugged Alligator Rivers area of the Northern Territory. The Ranger mine is located on Aboriginal land, surrounded by, but currently separate from, Kakadu National Park.
ERA’s production operations on the Ranger Project Area ceased in January 2021, with the major focus now shifting to the comprehensive world-class rehabilitation of the Ranger mine that will eventually allow it to be incorporated back into the Kakadu National Park should the Traditional Owners and the Commonwealth Government wish.
The Ranger Rehabilitation Project is the largest project of its kind in Australia and possibly the world. It is unique in that it is rehabilitating land in one of the world’s most culturally and environmentally sensitive locations, surrounded by the World Heritage-listed Kakadu National Park on the land of the Mirarr Traditional Owners, located three hours southeast of Darwin.
