Le champ d’expertise Communautés et performance sociale (CSP) est la fonction CPS technique de Rio Tinto. Il aide l’entreprise à établir, avec les communautés d’accueil, des relations de confiance et de respect afin d’améliorer les résultats sociaux et économiques. Le champ d’expertise CSP gère également les systèmes de gestion des risques, les politiques en matière de droits de la personne, les normes CPS et le processus de reddition de comptes de Rio Tinto. 

Nous sommes à la recherche d’une Conseiller(ère) senior, Droits de la personne, qui viendrait prêter main-forte à un programme innovant et réfléchi en matière de droits de la personne et contribuer à l’atteinte de résultats positifs dans ce domaine et à la réalisation d’objectifs d’affaires. Vous intégrerez notre entreprise à un moment où une grande importance est accordée aux performances en matière de droits de la personne, dans un contexte dynamique, en pleine évolution. Il s’agit d’une excellente occasion pour quelqu’un en phase avec notre vision, laquelle consiste à démystifier, à intégrer, à personnaliser et à opérationnaliser les principes de respect des droits de la personne. La conseillère ou le conseiller senior recevra l’appui de professionnels expérimentés en matière de droits de la personne et fera partie d’une équipe avant-gardiste et collaborative. Le poste est assorti de responsabilités régionales, mais concerne principalement les régions Amériques et EMOA. 

Relevant du chef de service principal, Droits de la personne, et évoluant dans un milieu dynamique et stimulant au sein du champ d’expertise CSP, vous aurez les responsabilités suivantes : 

  • Offrir du soutien et des conseils aux actifs et aux fonctions sur les principaux enjeux relatifs aux droits de la personne de Rio Tinto (notamment en ce qui a trait à l’inclusion et à la diversité, à la sécurité et aux droits de la personne, aux droits des travailleurs et à l’esclavage moderne, à la santé et au bien-être des communautés, aux droits des peuples autochtones, aux droits relatifs à l’accès aux terres et à leur utilisation, etc.).
  • Répondre aux demandes provenant de l’extérieur (analyses comparatives, sondages, questionnaires et demandes d’investisseurs externes).
  • Faire le suivi des tendances et des possibilités d’amélioration.
  • Préparer et animer des formations pour les actifs et les fonctions, y compris des initiatives de sensibilisation.
  • Faciliter les évaluations des risques et des priorités en matière de droits de la personne et prendre en charge les évaluations des incidences.
  • Élaborer des documents d’orientation, des outils et des modèles en matière de droits de la personne.
  • Superviser la mise en œuvre de la bibliothèque de contrôle pour les droits de la personne.
  • Mener des recherches pour faciliter les examens préalables à l’entrée dans un nouveau pays et les initiatives de cessation et de fermeture.
  • Diriger la campagne annuelle des droits de la personne et la stratégie de communication connexe.
  • Vous occuper de la mise en œuvre de la stratégie, du programme et des modules de formation sur les droits de la personne à l’échelle du Groupe.
  • Mesurer et surveiller les paramètres clés de performance.

  • Maitriserle français et l’anglais à l’oral et à l’écrit. Rio Tinto est une entreprisemondiale et les fonctions de ce poste exigent une collaboration quotidiennementavec des collègues, des équipes u des partenaires basés à l’extérieur duQuébec. 

Une connaissance approfondie des droits de la personne et de l’expérience dans le domaine sont préférables, mais non essentielles. Nous examinerons toutes les candidatures présentant diverses compétences et qualifications professionnelles (p. ex., services juridiques, gestion des risques, affaires, sciences humaines ou autres domaines connexes). About the role

Our Communities and Social Performance (CSP) Area of Expertise (AoE) is Rio Tinto’s Technical CSP function. It provides support to the business to build respectful and trusted relationships with host communities and deliver enduring social and economic outcomes. The CSP AoE works with CSP practitioners and leaders across the business to build capability, support human rights and social performance delivery, monitor and respond to emerging trends, and provide assurance and risk management. The CSP AoE also maintains Rio Tinto’s risk management systems, Human Rights Policy, CSP standard and reporting process. 

We are looking for a Senior Advisor Human Rights to join an innovative and thoughtful human rights program and contribute to business outcomes and positive human rights impacts. You’ll be joining at a period of significant interest in human rights performance, within a changing and dynamic external landscape. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is aligned to our vision to demystify, integrate, personalise, and operationalise respect for rights. The Senior Advisors will be supported by experienced Human Rights practitioners and be part of a collegial and pioneering team. The Senior Advisors will have geographic regional accountability with this role focusing on the Americas and EMEA regions. 

Reporting to the Senior Manager Human Rights and working in a dynamic and exciting environment within the CSP AoE, you will be: 

  • Providing support and advice to assets and functions on Rio Tinto’ salient human rights issues (i.e., related to inclusion and diversity, security and human rights, labour rights including modern slavery, community health and well-being, Indigenous Peoples rights, land access and use, among other topics)
  • Responding to external requests (external benchmarks, surveys, questionnaires, investor requests) 
  • Tracking trends and improvement opportunities
  • Facilitating and delivering training for assets and functions, including awareness initiatives
  • Facilitating human rights risk assessments, saliency reviews and support on impact assessments
  • Developing human rights guidance, tools and templates
  • Monitoring the implementation of human rights control library 
  • Research and support for country entry reviews, divestment and closure initiatives
  • Leading the annual human rights campaign and associated communications strategy 
  • Supporting delivery of the Group-wide human rights training strategy, program and modules
  • Measuring and monitoring key metrics and performance 

What you’ll bring

  • Excellent communication and writing skills, comfortable with working in detail and managing datasets
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment when dealing with internal and external stakeholders

  • Change management skills and experience will be highly desirable
  • Ability to prioritize workload and effective time management skills, results oriented
  • Team player who is action orientated and can deliver practical advice for practitioners
  • Fluentin French and English, both written and spoken. Rio Tinto is a global companyand the duties of this position require daily collaboration with colleagues,teams or partners based outside Quebec. 

In-depth human rights knowledge and experience is preferred but not essential. We will consider applicants with a range of skillsets and professional qualifications (e.g., from legal, risk, business, social sciences or other related disciplines) who are looking to upskill their knowledge of human rights and sustainability more broadly. Some knowledge of CSP standards, systems, risk management and assurance will be beneficial. 

Some relocation support may be considered for this role – the position must be based in Montreal or Salt Lake City.
