OER Coordinator(s) (Fixed-Term)

About the role
We are looking to hire Multiple Operational Engagement Readiness (OER) Coordinator (16-month Fixed Term) for the Rio Tinto Kennecott Copper Smelter. This role is essential in ensuring that operational readiness considerations are met before, during, and after smelter project execution. The role is responsible for executing assigned tasks in alignment with project phases and providing support and oversight to operational teams during maintenance & project shutdowns. This is to ensure there are no gaps in plans that could become a project or operational constraint.
Reporting to the Principal Advisor OER – Lead, you will be expected to:
- Ensure operational readiness activities are aligned to the guidance set forth in the Rio Tinto Operational Engagement and Readiness manual.
- Ensure the safe and successful execution of individual assignments and operational readiness deliverables.
- Support all identified operational readiness activities to ensure compliance with the master Operational Readiness Plan while making decisions and adjustments as required.
- Support training programs associated with new equipment installations.
- Represent the respective functional departments to ensure decisions are in the best interest of their departments, including adherence to plant equipment standards and protocols.
- Ensure robust pre-start-up safety reviews and cold and hot commissioning plans are developed and executed during the required project phases.
- Communicate the status of operational readiness assignments to the OER – Lead as required.
- Ensure the communication of project scopes, details and knowledge to the impacted stakeholders upon project completion.
- Provide regular updates for the OER Manager to be used to report operational readiness activities to project stakeholders as requested.
- Complete assigned operational readiness tasks as well assisting other team members with the completion of assignments by core team as well as ad hoc team members.
- Liaise with project and functional departments to continuously improve communications and support a high-performance team culture while remaining cognizant of project constraints within the mechanical infrastructure.
- Ensure that while fulfilling primary duties of the operational readiness team, to also accommodate functional departments requests as long as they do not impact the operational readiness team deliverables.

About you
To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
- An Engineering BS degree is desirable but not required in lieu of having significant experience in the mining or smelting industry with a broad and deep understanding of both the RTKC operation, a good understanding of operational readiness, and a comprehensive understanding of one or more asset management disciplines.
- Intimate understanding and knowledge of metal smelting and refining.
- Intimate understanding of multiple asset management disciplines and well as commissioning.
- Must be able to effectively communicate at many levels within the operations organizations.
- Must be an effective communicator and influencer.
- Must possess good interpersonal skills to interface and maintain a positive attitude with employees at all levels in a professional and helpful matter.
- Must possess effective communication skills, both oral and written.
- Must possess analytical and decision-making skills, based on facts and data.
- Must be self-motivated and demonstrate the ability to be proactive and take the initiative or meet commitments.
- Must be able to effectively manage multiple tasks while maintaining accuracy and flexibility.
- Broad understanding of asset management functions, preferably within a high-performance project team culture.
- Excellent all-around communication skills (written, verbal, interpersonal).
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to multi-task in a constantly changing environment.
- Must be trustworthy with confidential information.
- Must operate independently with minimal guidance and little or no supervision.
