About the role

We are looking for a Closure Planner to carry out planning/coordinating duties as required by the Projects and Closure teams.
Reporting to the Principal Advisor Project Controls, this position is at the Lac de Gras Mine site. You will be working 12 hours per day on a 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off rotational schedule. Working collaboratively with all operational and functional departments, you will be required to:
- Develop plans for winter road backhauls, decommissioning plans.
- Develop and detail requirements for closure/projects, ensuring availability of equipment and materials, including asset disposal and removal.
- Work with demolition team, and engineers, to plan decommissioning and demolition sequencing.
- Assess and provide input into engineering designs and drawings covering pumping, electrical, power generation, piping, HVAC, and structural.
- Help develop detailed plans for decommissioning and closure of buildings in preparation for demolition.
- Identify and implement opportunities for cost savings.
- Perform inspections and provide recommendations to projects/closure teams.
- Work closely with electrical, mechanical civil, and mining engineers within the team to complete projects.
- Support the operations and maintenance teams with closure readiness planning and continuous improvement.
- Build and maintain positive and effective working relationships with other departments.
What you’ll bring
To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
- 15+ years operations, planning, supervising experience in mining, heavy industry, or utilities.
- Strong computer skills – Microsoft Office and ERP systems.
- Knowledge of building systems and infrastructure.
- Experience with infrastructure, decommissioning, salvage, and demolition considered an asset.
- Ability to work effectively in a diverse team.
- Ability to work alone and under minimal supervision.
- Proactive and self-driven with the ability to work on multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
