About the role

We are looking for a Principal Geoscience and Data, to support generation of resource models and associated data managment. Providing technical leadership you will support implementation of best practice, governance and prioritization of work. The role acts as the conduit between orebody knowledge disciplines including Resource evaluation, Data management, Resource Geology, Mine Planning and Mine Geology to identify gaps and opportunities and ensure project delivery.
This role is a great opportunity to be part of a collaborative team environment and shape the long term development of a world class ore body. Reporting to the Geology Manager, Technical & Strategy you will:
- Provide leadership and support the generation of resource models and associated data management processes.
- Provide technical expertise, share best practices and mentor the team with a focus on improving overall capability via on-job training and assistance in solving complex problems.
- Provide oversight, prioritisation and tasks allocation to team, through effective project management and communication of business context and requirements.
- Collaborates with key business stakeholders to help maximize value, advise on project shaping and anticipate current and future risks.
- Maintain and improve site systems and processes for resource modelling, data management, reconciliation and provide a governance role for QAQC
- Ensures the work is supported and completed to the appropriate quality considering cooperate governance and regulatory standards
- Provide stakeholder input for drilling strategies across time horizons to ensure timely delivery of ore body knowledge, including geological mapping ensuring systems for collection and collation into appropriate information management systems.
- Provide stakeholder input to support and improve grade control practices – including support for implementation and monitoring of the reconciliation framework
What you’ll bring
- A commitment to the safety of yourself, others and areas in which we work
- A suitable degree qualification in geoscience
- Working experience in resource geology and databases (experience in an operational or studies environment considered a positive)
- A strong people focus and ability to leverage capability across groups while fostering effective teamwork
- Excellent relationship building with the ability to work and communicate with a diverse group of disciplines
- A passion for and ability to drive continuous improvement with effective change management
- Ability to achieve outcomes through influence with integrity, and collaboration with others.
- A demonstrated understanding of the mining value chain and inter-relationships and interdependencies of technical disciplines.
- Skills in mining software – preferably Maptek, Leapfrog, Acquire
- Capability in French is considered advantageous.
