About the role
We are looking for a Capability Development Superintendent to support our rail division across 7 Mile Dampier, Cape Lambert and Tom Price. The role is primarily based at Karratha/Damper with regular travel to Cape Lambert and Tom Price to support stakeholders.
This is a people leadership position that requires to partnership with the business to understand and meet internal stakeholders’ learning goals and objectives that will lead uplift of safety, production and culture. The successful candidate will be supported by centralised resources to build and lead teams of learning specialists and trainer/facilitators to modernise our service, simplify and harmonise our processes and introduce new technologies in learning design and delivery to teams under Rail.

Reporting to the Manager Capability Development, you will:
- Work with site leaders to establish training plans that deliver the necessary employee skill development to support business objectives
- Through strong and engaging leadership, ensure that site training team’s and Learning Specialists and trainers/facilitators deliver against plans and continually engage leaders on progress.
- Lead the team through change, ensuring all members have clear goals and expectations and that performance and development is managed to ensure a high standard is achieved.
- Proactively identify, coordinate and lead improvement in systems and services.
- Partner with business leaders to ensure capability development priorities are agreed and expectations are met.
What you’ll bring
- A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
- Current ‘C’ Class Driver’s License
- Previous knowledge of rail operations and/or exposure to safe working standards would be highly advantageous
- Excellent stakeholder management, engagement and communication skills, with the ability to articulate key messages to stakeholders
- People leadership and performance management capabilities including constructive feedback, clear expectations and team development, and able to coach and mentor appropriately
- Tactical execution of strategic priorities
- Ability to establish and measure effective engagement with teams
- Data and gap analysis skills
- Ability be adaptable, agile, multitask and context switch

Where you’ll be working
Our privately owned and operated rail network is an essential part of our integrated production process and services our 15 mines across the Pilbara via 1,700km of track. With depots located at Tom Price, Cape Lambert and Dampier (7 Mile), each train is operated by a single driver and comprises up to three locomotives and 240 ore cars stretching to approximately 2.7 kilometres in length with over 40 trains operating per day. We are also applying and adapting technology to improve safety and productivity across our rail network.
This role will be primarily based in Dampier, and therefore you must be willing to relocate or reside in Dampier, or willing to Fly in, fly out from Perth only operating on 5 days on, 2 days off / 4 days on; 3 days off roster.
