We’re seeking a passionate Product Manager to manage our Safe Production System (SPS) suite of digital products. You will be accountable for translating business and technical needs into a scalable software product that delivers demonstrable user and business value.
Safe Production Systems (SPS) is the foundation of ‘Best Operator’, one of the focus areas of Rio Tinto’s vision that aims to expand Rio Tinto’s capability and leadership. SPS will help deliver a sustainable, people-centric, and safe production system.

Reporting to the Senior Product Manager and working in a collaborative community within our Digital Products division, you will:
- Act as the key point of contact for SPS product development/ demand in the domain for Digital Products.
- Collaborate with Domain Leaders, Product Groups, Centres of Excellence, and other Product Managers to ensure that products meet the end-user requirements.
- Develop compelling product propositions and determine strategic positioning to optimize business process.
- Exhibit a forward-thinking mindset, constantly envisioning future states of the product in alignment with evolving business conditions and strategies, helping drive the vision, strategy and roadmaps for SPS products.
- Monitor product performance continuously to ensure it meets desired business outcomes and adjust strategies as necessary.
- Provide oversight to fusion teams within Digital Products, working closely with Design, Engineering, Data & Analytics and Product Operations.
- Lead the planning and execution of scoping, requirements definition, and prioritization for complex initiatives, ensuring alignment with business goals. Focus on defining the problem and providing strategic recommendations into product viability and return on investment.
- Build and maintains trust with stakeholders through consistent, high-quality product delivery, and effective communication.
- Manage relationships with vendors and service providers to secure the necessary tools, technologies, and services that enhance product capabilities and support strategic objectives.

- A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
- A graduate degree in a relevant field
- At least 10 years Product Management experience
- Experience in working across mining value chains or business improvement roles is desirable
- Experience creating and delivering presentations to both technical and business audiences
- Excellent stakeholder management skills. Prior experience with managing large groups of stakeholders
- Broad understanding of product lifecycle management
- Strong leadership and strategic thinking skills
- Strong problem-solving skills demonstrated by the ability to structure issues and analyse alternative solutions
- Excellent communication skills – being able to communicate effectively both strategic vision and specific details to various stakeholders, from leadership to individual team members and technical teams
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
