Senior Mining Engineer – Winu Project

We are looking for a Senior Mining Engineer to work with the Technical team to support the Principal Mining Engineer in Study and Operational Readiness activities, focused specifically on developing the mine at Winu. You will be involved in several multi-disciplinary, ongoing studies and project implementation. This role can be offered as a permanent, full time or part time role.

Reporting to the Principal Engineer and working in a complex, supportive and exciting environment, you will be:
- Actively engaging, collaborating and building positive relationships with internal & external stakeholders to ensure mine engineering is integrated into Winu’s business processes and achieves project objectives.
- Refining and optimising the life of mine plan designs, schedules and closure plans.
- Conducting desktop evaluations to make value-based decisions.
- Providing input into studies and mining optimisation projects to ensure best practice.
- Ensuring that risk in the plan or designs are proactively identified, mitigated and, where required, adequately controlled.
- Supporting the development of the operational readiness plan including ramp up, procedures, standards, and general structure.
What you’ll bring
To be considered for this role, you should have:
- A commitment to the overall safety of you and your team.
- Strong understanding of day-to-day operational activities, with experience in mine design, planning and scheduling.
- Experience in Mine Operations and/or Projects and/or Studies.
- Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills to engage and influence stakeholders.
- Experience with optimisation and scheduling software will be highly regarded.
- Experience in copper and gold would be of benefit.

Where you’ll be working
The Winu Project is a 100% Rio Tinto owned, exciting copper-gold mineralisation project in the Yeneena Basin of the Paterson Province, which lies in The Great Sandy Desert of Western Australia. The project is located approximately 130 km north of the Telfer mine and 350 km southeast of Port Hedland. Teams at Winu are taking an agile approach to greenfield project development and being innovative in the way we bring a mine from exploration to production.
