Nous sommes à la recherche d’un ou d’un(e) chef(fe) de projet, Énergie, possédant beaucoup d’expérience et de motivation, qui se joindra à notre équipe RTEC du Canada. Les responsabilités associées à ce rôle comprennent la gestion et la supervision de divers partenaires – dont les concepteurs et les consultants du secteur de l’énergie – le soutien des plans d’affaires et des stratégies, ainsi que la participation aux préparations contractuelles. En outre, le candidat ou la candidate retenu(e) collaborera étroitement avec l’équipe RTEC mondiale et nos établissements canadiens dans le but de garantir que nous répondons aux besoins stratégiques en énergie de Rio Tinto, selon nos projections de croissance de la demande.
Relevant du directeur ou de la directrice, Développement énergétique – Canada, vous aurez les responsabilités suivantes :
Gestion de projets
- Gérer les travaux de mise en œuvre de projets réalisés par notre partenaire en développement énergétique pour divers projets éoliens à proximité de nos installations canadiennes. Notamment :
- Adapter les travaux de manière à répondre aux besoins énergétiques régionaux de Rio Tinto.
- Gérer les attentes des partenaires et de Rio Tinto.
- Affecter des ressources internes, en fonction de la planification technique s’il y a lieu, à l’interconnexion des systèmes et à la gestion des parties prenantes externes.
- Prendre activement des décisions pour assurer le bon déroulement du projet.
- Gérer les travaux de développement de projets hydroélectriques envisagés en collaboration avec les partenaires autochtones et les conseillers techniques. Notamment :
- Gérer la portée de l’étude en partenariat avec des consultants externes.
- Assumer le rôle d’interface auprès de nos partenaires autochtones pour aligner le projet sur nos objectifs mutuels.
- Participer au processus de planification de la structure des partenariats.
- Participer au processus de modélisation financière.
Développement stratégique
- Soutenir l’équipe dans la planification stratégique et la préparation des propositions destinées aux divers comités internes de RT et à l’équipe de direction senior.
- Collaborer avec les fonctions internes selon les besoins, pour aligner le projet avec les pratiques exemplaires et les normes de Rio Tinto.
Collaboration opérationnelle
- Favoriser la collaboration interfonctionnelle entre les équipes d’exploitation et de développement internes dans les différentes opérations canadiennes de RT, entre autres, dans une optique d’uniformité, de collaboration et d’échange de connaissances.
Votre contribution
- Baccalauréat en ingénierie, en administration des affaires, en gestion ou dans un domaine connexe.
- Excellentes aptitudes en leadership et en gestion de projet, et capacité à gérer plusieurs priorités et parties prenantes.
- Expérience des partenariats, des contrats et de la planification stratégique.
- Excellentes compétences relationnelles et de communication, et capacité d’animation en anglais et en français.
- Capacité à établir et à maintenir des relations solides et à travailler en collaboration avec des équipes interfonctionnelles.
- Bonne connaissance du milieu des affaires canadien et du contexte réglementaire, un atout.
- Compétences organisationnelles et en gestion de projets.
- Pensée et résolution de problèmes stratégiques doublées de solides compétences en négociation et pouvoir d’influence.
Un atout :
- Expérience des systèmes énergétiques et électriques.
- Expérience des systèmes d’alimentation électrique et des opérations minières.

About the role
Finding Better Ways to Provide the Materials the World Needs
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Energy Project Manager to join our RTEC Canada team. This role involves management and oversight of various partners, including energy developers and consultants, supporting business plans and strategies, and participating in contractual preparations. The successful candidate will also work closely with RTEC global team and our Canadian operations in an objective of ensuring our strategic energy needs are met for Rio Tinto’s load growth projections.
Reporting to the Director Energy Development Canada, you will be responsible for:
Project Management:
- Manage the project development work being performed by our energy development partner for various wind projects near our Canadian operations. This involves:
- Aligning work such that RT regional energy needs are met
- Managing both partner and RT expectations
- Aligning internal resources as needed with technical planning for system interconnection and external stakeholder management
- Performing active decision making to keep the project progress.
- Manage the project development work for potential hydro projects in collaboration with Indigenous partners and technical consultants. This involves:
- Manage the study scope delivery with external consultants
- Acting coordinator with our Indigenous partner(s) for aligning project with mutual objectives
- Participate in the partnership structure planning process
- Participate in the financial modeling process
Strategic Development:
- Provide support to the team during strategic planning and proposals intended for various RT internal committees and senior leadership team.
- Collaborate with internal departments as needed to ensure project alignment with RT best practices and standards.
Operational Collaboration:
- Facilitate cross-functional collaboration with internal operation and development teams at various RT Canadian operations, and others to ensure internal alignment, collaborative support, and shared expertise.
What you’ll bring
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business administration, management, or a related field.
- Strong leadership and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders.
- Experience with partnerships, contracts, and strategic planning.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal skills & presentation abilities in both English and French.
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships & work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Familiarity with the Canadian business landscape and regulatory environment is a plus.
- Project management and organizational skills
- Strategic thinking and problem-solving with strong negotiation and influencing skills
