Nous sommes à la recherche d’une professionnelle ou d’un professionnel expérimenté et très motivé pour gérer un portefeuille d’approvisionnement en énergie. Le ou la titulaire du poste une petite équipe et sera responsable de catégories d’énergie biofuel. Bien que ce poste implique l’obtention de résultats favorables sur le plan commercial, les valeurs ESG sont tout aussi importantes. La candidate ou le candidat retenu devra concilier plusieurs objectifs et valeurs, et ainsi contribuer à une stratégie énergétique mondiale complète. Vous aurez l’occasion non seulement de changer les méthodes de travail de Rio Tinto, mais également d’exercer une influence sur les marchés mondiaux des énergies renouvelables, à l’heure où le monde se tourne vers une approche plus verte et plus durable.

Sous l’autorité du(de la) chef de service principal(e), Énergie – secteur mondial, vous aurez les responsabilités suivantes :

  • Diriger une équipe de spécialistes de catégorie qui géreront un portefeuille des energies biofuels.
  • Se positionner comme une ou un spécialiste et être capable de définir les tendances et les innovations sur le marché, afin de répondre aux besoins de l’entreprise.
  • Collaborer avec les membres de l’équipe mondiale Énergie, répartis dans différentes régions du monde.
  • Gérer un degré de risque approprié dans l’application de nouvelles solutions commerciales innovantes pour répondre de manière proactive aux défis d’affaires et saisir les occasions qui se présentent.
  • Mener des négociations et établir des relations stratégiques, tant en interne qu’en externe, à un échelon supérieur, afin de positionner Rio Tinto pour assurer sa réussite future.
  • Créer une culture inclusive et bienveillante; être en mesure de favoriser un haut niveau de confiance et de travailler dans un environnement matriciel très collaboratif.

À propos de vous

La candidate ou le candidat retenu pour ce poste devrait présenter les caractéristiques suivantes :

  • Baccalauréat en administration des affaires, en commerce, en finance ou en sciences/ingénierie.(Un MBA, ou des certifications en comptabilité ou dans un domaine lié à l’industrie sont considérés comme des atouts importants.)
  • Au moins 10 ans d’expérience dans l’approvisionnement ou la chaîne d’approvisionnement.
  • Expérience commerciale, technique ou opérationnelle dans certains ou dans l’ensemble des domaines suivants : hydrocarbures et biocarburants, lubrifiants, énergies renouvelables et explosifs.
  • Expérience de travail au sein d’une plateforme mondiale de ressources, plus particulièrement dans les secteurs du pétrole et du gaz, des mines, de la fabrication, des services publics ou de la logistique.
  • Solides compétences en gestion de projets, en résolution de problèmes et en gestion des relations avec les fournisseurs et les clients.
  • Esprit stratégique : expérience dans l’élaboration, la présentation et la mise en œuvre de stratégies d’approvisionnement innovantes et bonne compréhension de la valeur commerciale.
  • Solides aptitudes en développement d’outils analytiques de modélisation.
  • Connaissance pratique des contrats commerciaux dans certains ou dans l’ensemble des territoires des fournisseurs clés (aux États-Unis et au Canada).
  • Aptitude pour le travail en équipe : esprit de collaboration, approche ouverte et transparente, et capacité à établir un haut niveau de confiance dans un environnement matriciel.
  • Compréhension de base du droit contractuel et de la législation pertinente.
  • Connaissance générale des méthodologies de gestion des catégories et de sourcing stratégique.
  • Capacité à voyager à l’international.
  • Maitriser le français et l’anglais à l’oral et à l’écrit. Rio Tinto est une entreprise mondiale et les fonctions de ce poste exigent une collaboration quotidiennement avec des collègues, des équipes u des partenaires basés à l’extérieur du Québec.
  • Horaires de travail flexibles : capacité d’assister à des réunions et de prendre des appels en dehors des heures normales de travail (tard le soir ou tôt le matin) plusieurs jours par semaine.

Principal Advisor, Biofuels

This role will be critical in contributing to an energy portfolio that is undergoing a rapid pivot towards renewable fuels in support of Rio’s ambitious decarbonisation mandate.

The role reports to the Sr. Manager, Global Energy.

The core function of this role is to support the development of an integrated biofuels strategy and project manage important bioenergy initiatives, this, in support of sourcing sustainable fuels for Rio Tinto’s businesses both in the near and long-term. These initiatives are expected to play an important role in Rio Tinto’s decarbonisation ambition. The role interfaces with a broad range of stakeholders within both Rio Tinto Procurement and other operating business units. The role will involve engaging a diverse network of stakeholders including operations managers, climate teams and communications while interfacing with external partners and market participants.

The role will require the following:

  • Execute global procurement strategy for biofuels, focussing on, but not limited to, biogenic alternatives to fossil fuels (diesel, fuel oil and coal):
  • Managing biofuel trials and other decarb initiatives: Responsible for strategy development, business unit collaboration towards managing complex initiatives through to execution.
  • Develop subject matter expertise: Build expertise in biofuels; develop team capability and credibility within the renewables space while collaborating with internal stakeholders.
  • Procurement process: Have a strong understanding and appreciation of procurement best practice.
  • Relationships: Responsible for building highly functioning internal relationships by deploying business partnering principles to improve customer centricity, while also partnering with strategic suppliers to optimise value delivery, innovation, and competitive advantage for Rio Tinto.  
  • Safety: Embedding a holistic and robust approach to safety, security, risk, change and project management across your assigned portfolio. A demonstrated commitment towards embedding HSEC values and principals.
  • Governance: Ensuring initiatives are implemented in accordance with Rio Tinto's governance requirements. 
  • International: This is a largely regional role, however, coordinating with geographically dispersed teams to achieve outcomes will be critical. This requires flexibility in working hours, connecting with colleagues in different time zones.
  • Market Engagement: Strong interest in commerce and be well positioned to become a Subject Matter Expert in various Biofuels markets. You understand the commercial drivers and levers necessary to build economic value.
  • Travel: Considerable travel is required for the role, principally to operations in the US and Canada
  • Location: Montreal

Candidate qualification requirements:

  • A strong commitment to safety and sustainability.
  • A passion for sustainability and willingness to develop capability in renewables markets.
  • Strong understanding of, and demonstrated execution with, procurement processes.
  • Some understanding of North American energy markets (gas, diesel, or explosives).
  • An understanding of logistics and logistics processes and how this is integrated into providing the appropriate energy solutions for Rio Tinto business units.
  • Some project management experience, including problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • An understanding of business process improvement and change management desirable.
  • Strong team building and communication skills, an ability to nurture and mentor junior members of the existing NA energy team.
  • Fluent in French and English, both written and spoken. Rio Tinto is a global company and the duties of this position require daily collaboration with colleagues, teams or partners based outside Quebec.
