About the role
We have an opportunity for an Operator Maintainer Electrical to work across our gas turbine generation assets within the Utilities Coastal Team. The Power Station is one of four Rio Tinto Gas Turbine Power Stations in the Pilbara region, suppling power to the Mining, Port and residential assets across the whole Pilbara region.
The Power Station offers a variety of systems to enhance your work experience, that include:

2 GE LM6000PF dual fuel, Aero Derivative Gas Turbines Generators

Gas Turbine DCS and SCADA control systems
-
RO Water Treatment system Plant
-
Site Instrument Air systems
-
Gas Fuel Systems
-
Reciprocating Diesel Generating Sets
Reporting to the Operations Maintenance Supervisor, the role will require you to:
-
Contribute to a safe workplace
-
Report on the asset condition
-
Carry out inspections, scheduled and breakdown maintenance, major overhauls of the power station assets
-
Engage in continuous improvement
-
Operate Power Station assets
-
Update maintenance systems data (SAP)
-
Complete Job Hazard Assessments, Take 5 and Critical Risk Management safety procedures
About you
To be successfully considered for this role, you will have the following:
-
A West Australian Electrical Licence
-
W.A. C Class Driver's Licence
-
Recognised Instrumentation qualification (Cert IV)
-
HV Switching qualifications
-
Sound knowledge of PLC Control systems and DCS’s
-
Ability to use and follow GE GEK manuals
-
Read & interpret P&ID’s
-
RO plant maintenance and operation
-
A proactive approach & strong commitment to maintaining our safe working culture
It will also be beneficial if you have:
-
High Risk Work Licenses in LF, WP, RG
-
Experience in operations and maintenance of LM6000 Gas turbines & balance of plant or similar (Aeroderivative Turbines)
-
Proficiency in the use of SAP and Microsoft Office
-
Basic knowledge and understanding PLC’s and DCS’s
-
Distribution system operation, maintenance, protection & control, up to and including Gas Turbine Generator circuit breaker.

Where you will be working
Cape Lambert Power Station is North of the City of Karratha, close to the town of Wickham and supports amongst other things the port facilities, which consist of four shipping terminals located on the Pilbara coast at Dampier and Cape Lambert which form an essential part of our logistics process. Each terminal has facilities for train unloading, iron ore stockpiling, product blending and ship loading.
