Nous sommes à la recherche d’un ou d’une chef de service, Stratégie (Aluminium), qui dirigera la conception et l’élaboration de la stratégie de mise en marché d’Aluminium en accord avec la stratégie commerciale, la stratégie du Groupe et les objectifs ESG. Joignez-vous à une équipe dynamique chargée de mener à bien les investissements ainsi que la stratégie à long terme (commerciale et visant les produits) pour l’ensemble des usines d’électrolyse mondiales du groupe Aluminium. Le groupe Affaires commerciales de Rio Tinto tient à être un partenaire de choix pour un avenir vert et à établir une stratégie afin de concrétiser cette vision. 

Relevant du directeur ou de la directrice, Stratégie de mise en marché et ESG, au sein de l’équipe Marketing de Métaux et minéraux, vous aurez les responsabilités suivantes : 

  • Inspirer des équipes de professionnels connus dans l'ensemble de l'industrie et du secteur, et travailler en partenariat avec les parties prenantes des services commerciaux, des groupes de produits et des fonctions du groupe pour définir une vision et aligner notre approche de mise sur le marché de l'aluminium dans les régions de l'Atlantique et du Pacifique. Vous agirez avec transparence dans l'élaboration de la stratégie et adopterez une approche proactive de l'exécution de la stratégie afin de garantir une responsabilité claire des actions et du retour d'information.
  • Diriger et gérer une petite équipe de professionnels partageant la même mission et en soutenir le développement.
  • Établir de solides relations collaboratives et servir d’interface clé dans les interactions stratégiques commerciales, en s’assurant que les stratégies s’inscrivent dans notre manière de concevoir nos offres, de développer notre marché/clientèle et de nous distinguer par des services techniques innovants.
  • Travailler en étroite collaboration avec les services commerciaux, les groupes de produits et le développement des affaires afin de générer, d'identifier, d'évaluer et d'élaborer des analyses de rentabilité pour les nouvelles opportunités et initiatives commerciales, y compris la thèse d'investissement et la conviction d'une croissance organique et inorganique. Produire, déterminer et évaluer des analyses de rentabilité axées sur les nouvelles occasions et initiatives des Affaires commerciales, comme les perspectives d’investissement et les possibilités de croissance organique et inorganique.
  • Gérer les processus de développement et d'exécution de la stratégie pour l'aluminium en travaillant avec l'ensemble de la chaîne de valeur pour développer des stratégies de mise sur le marché cohérentes et cohésives en analysant les données commerciales, industrielles, techniques et financières pour soutenir les opportunités commerciales créatrices de valeur, les décisions et les orientations stratégiques. Cela inclut, sans s'y limiter, la définition des portefeuilles de produits et de services, les voies de croissance, l'application de notre offre ESG à l'aluminium, les méthodes de distribution, les segments clés du marché et de la clientèle, les propositions de valeur pour les clients, les politiques de prix et les activités de gestion de la marque
  • Générer une pensée cohérente et une boucle de rétroaction constante pour la stratégie via les ventes, le développement du marché, le marketing technique et d'autres parties prenantes ; toutes les idées devraient développer la stratégie en permanence

Votre contribution​​

  • Le candidat doit être titulaire d'une licence en commerce ou d'un diplôme équivalent. [Un MBA serait bénéfique.]
  • Très bon sens stratégique et commercial avec 8 à 10 ans d'expérience dans la stratégie commerciale, le conseil et/ou l'analyse des investissements.
  • Capacité à présenter des idées stratégiques de manière simple et digeste
  • Expérience dans l'évaluation et/ou le développement d'entreprises afin d'identifier les voies de croissance et les synergies potentielles par le biais d'une croissance inorganique
  • Capacité à gérer efficacement l'ambiguïté et le changement de contexte pour élaborer des solutions viables et durables.
  • Capacité d'influence et aptitude à traduire un contenu stratégique et technique en idées exploitables.
  • Faire preuve d'une curiosité innée, observer avec empathie et aimer résoudre des problèmes de manière créative.
  • Capacité à naviguer et à fonctionner avec succès dans une organisation matricielle, l'engagement des parties prenantes et les compétences en matière de partenariat commercial étant des conditions essentielles.
  • Des compétences en matière de collaboration, d'écoute, de capacité à recevoir et à fournir un retour d'information de manière positive et d'incarnation des comportements de RT seront exigées.
  • Capacité à voyager
  • Si vous postulez le poste basé à Montréal, Québec, maitriser le français et l’anglais à l’oral et à l’écrit. Rio Tinto est une entreprise mondiale et les fonctions de ce poste exigent une collaboration quotidiennement avec des collègues, des équipes et des partenaires basés à l’extérieur du Québec.

  • Expérience du secteur de l’aluminium/des métaux LME
  • Expérience préalable dans le domaine de la consultation en matière de stratégie au sein de l’un des trois plus grands cabinets de consultation en gestion (McKinsey/Bain/BCG, etc.)

About the role

As the Manager, Strategy (Aluminium), you will formulate and shape the Aluminium Go-to-Market Commercial strategy aligned with Commercial Strategy, Group Strategy and ESG objectives. Join this fast paced team that is accountable for driving the external industrial strategy of the company for and with our customers and supply chains. Rio Tinto Commercial is committed to being the partner of choice for the Green Future and this role will support establishing the strategy to put this vision into action.

Reporting to the Director of Go to Market and ESG Strategy, Marketing & ESG, Metals and Minerals, you will:

  • Inspire teams of professionals who are industry and sector wide known, and partner with stakeholders in Commercial, Product Groups, and Group functions to set vision and align our go-to-market approach for Aluminium in both the Atlantic and Pacific regions. You will operate with transparency in strategy development and take a proactive approach to strategy execution to ensure clear accountability and responsibility for actions and feedback
  • Lead, manage and support the development of a small team of professionals who share in the same mission
  • Develop strong collaborative working relationships and be the key interface for strategic commercial interactions in aluminium across Rio Tinto, ensuring the voice of the customer is heard, and strategies are well embedded in the way we develop our offerings, the way we develop the market/customers and the way we differentiate ourselves via technical and innovative services
  • Work closely with Commercial, Product Groups and Business Development to generate, identify, evaluate, and build business cases for new Commercial opportunities and initiatives including the investment thesis and conviction for organic and inorganic growth
  • Manage the Strategy Development and Execution processes for Aluminium by working with the entire value chain to develop coherent and cohesive Go-To-Market Strategies by analysing commercial, industry, technical and financial data to support value creating business opportunities, decisions, and strategic directions. This includes, but is not limited to, the definition of product and service portfolios, growth pathways, the application of our ESG offering to aluminium, distribution methods, key market and customer segments, customer value propositions, pricing policies and brand management activities
  • Generate cohesive thinking and a constant feedback loop for the strategy via sales, market development, technical marketing and other stakeholders; all insights should continuously develop the strategy
  • Create, join or enhance industry-wide thought leadership.

What you’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or equivalent is required. [MBA will be beneficial]
  • Very strong strategic and commercial acumen with 8-10 years of prior experience in commercial strategy, consulting and/or investment analysis
  • Ability to present strategic ideas in a simple and digestible manner
  • Experience in business evaluation and/or business development to identify growth pathways and potential synergies through inorganic growth
  • Ability to effectively navigate ambiguity and change context to develop workable and sustainable solutions
  • Influencing skills with the ability to translate strategic and technical content into actionable insights
  • Possess innate curiosity, observe empathetically and enjoy creatively driven problem solving
  • Ability in navigating and operating successfully in a matrix organization, with stakeholders’ engagement and business partnering skills being key requisites.
  • Competencies in collaboration, listening, ability to receive and provide feedback in a positive manner and embodiment of RT behaviours will be required
  • Ability to travel
  • If applying for the Montreal location: Fluent in French and English, both written and spoken. Rio Tinto is a global company and the duties of this position require daily collaboration with colleagues, teams or partners based outside Quebec.

It will also be beneficial if you have:

  • MBA
  • Experience in aluminium / LME metals
  • Prior experience in strategy consulting with one of the big 3 management consulting firms (McKinsey / Bain / BCG etc)

You’ll be part of a friendly, welcoming community close to our mining operation. You’ll be home after each shift to enjoy your life away from work.

Flying into a site, staying at a camp for the duration of your roster, then flying home again. We call this FIFO.

For certain sites, you will take a bus or a boat into the site, stay at a camp, and then bus or boat out again.

Offers and checks

At this stage, we will let you know if you have been successful. If you have been, we’ll need to conduct a couple of checks, such as a background or security check. You may also need to do a medical assessment depending on the role you have applied for.
