Nous sommes à la recherche d’un(e) Gestionnaire des énergies renouvelables hautement motivé et expérimenté, pour rejoindre notre équipe Rio Tinto Énergie et Climat (RTEC) Canada. Ce rôle est crucial pour gérer le développement de projets d'énergies renouvelables, en particulier dans le domaine de l'énergie éolienne, en collaboration avec des partenaires et des consultants. Le candidat retenu jouera un rôle clé dans l'avancement du développement des projets éoliens, en veillant à l'alignement avec les besoins énergétiques stratégiques de Rio Tinto et les projections de croissance de la demande au Canada.

Relevant du directeur ou de la directrice, Développement énergétique – Canada, vous aurez les responsabilités suivantes :

Développement de projets éoliens

  • Diriger le développement de projets éoliens à grande échelle, en gérant nos partenaires en énergie renouvelable à travers toutes les phases du projet, y compris le choix des sites, les permis, l'interconnexion et l'engagement des parties prenantes externes.

  • Assurer l'alignement des projets avec la stratégie énergétique de Rio Tinto, notamment en prenant en compte les besoins régionaux en charge énergétique et les objectifs de décarbonisation.

  • Faciliter la collaboration entre les parties prenantes internes et externes, en fournissant une supervision technique et une prise de décision pour maintenir la progression des projets et minimiser les risques.

  • Agir en tant que principal interlocuteur entre Rio Tinto et le partenaire en énergie renouvelable, en veillant à la livraison ponctuelle des étapes clés et au respect des obligations contractuelles.

  • Superviser le développement de projets hydroélectriques en collaboration avec les partenaires autochtones, y compris la gestion de consultants externes et l'assurance de l'alignement des projets avec les objectifs communs.

  • Participer aux études de faisabilité, à la planification de la structure des partenariats et à la modélisation financière pour les projets d'énergie renouvelable.

Collaboration

  • Fournir un soutien à l'équipe lors de la planification stratégique et des approbations d'investissement par les comités internes de Rio Tinto et la direction.

About the role

Finding Better Ways to Provide the Materials the World Needs

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Renewable Energy Manager to join our Rio Tinto Energy and Climate (RTEC) Canada team. This role is critical to managing the development of renewable energy projects, particularly wind energy, through collaboration with partners and consultants. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in advancing wind project development, ensuring alignment with Rio Tinto’s strategic energy needs and load growth projections in Canada.

Reporting to the Director Energy Development Canada, you will be responsible for:

Wind Project Development

  • Lead the development of utility-scale wind energy projects, managing our renewable energy partners through all project phases, including siting, permitting, interconnection, and external stakeholder engagement.

  • Ensure project alignment with Rio Tinto’s energy strategy, including regional energy load needs and decarbonization goals.

  • Facilitate collaboration between internal and external stakeholders, providing technical oversight and decision-making to maintain project progress and mitigate risks.

  • Act as a primary liaison between Rio Tinto and the renewable energy partner, ensuring timely delivery of milestones and adherence to contractual obligations.

Hydro and Renewable Energy Development

  • Oversee the development of hydroelectric projects in collaboration with Indigenous partners, including coordinating external consultants and ensuring project alignment with mutual objectives.

  • Participate in feasibility studies, partnership structure planning, and financial modeling for renewable energy projects.

Collaboration

  • Provide support to the team during strategic planning and investment approvals from RT internal committees and senior leadership team.

  • Collaborate with internal departments as needed to ensure project alignment with RT best practices and standards

  • Collaborate with internal teams in RT operations during technical planning, system interconnection, regulatory compliance, and stakeholder management to ensure cohesive project execution.

What you’ll bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field.

  • Strong leadership and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills & presentation abilities in both English and French.

  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships & work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

  • Experience with partnerships, contracts, and strategic planning.

  • Familiarity with the Canadian business landscape and regulatory environment is a plus.

  • Project management and organizational skills

  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving with strong negotiation and influencing skills

Bonus:

  • Experience in energy systems and electrical systems.

  • Experience with power system and mining operations.
