  • Contribuer à l’évolution d’une organisation commerciale et de nos activités au sein de l’Approvisionnement et des Affaires commerciales

Nous sommes à la recherche d’un conseiller principal ou d’une conseillère principale, partenaire d’affaires des Finances, pour notre division Affaires commerciales dans la région Atlantique.

Il s’agit d’une formidable occasion de travailler avec de multiples parties prenantes afin de fournir des conseils à l’entreprise et de soutenir l’élaboration et l’exécution du processus décisionnel stratégique. Relevant du ou de la responsable des partenaires d’affaires des Finances, Affaires commerciales – Achat et Transport, la personne recherchée est enthousiaste et curieuse. Il lui incombera d’effectuer les tâches suivantes :

Penser de manière proactive, prendre des initiatives et être à l’aise de travailler avec les parties prenantes de la haute direction.

Améliorer la gestion de la performance en fournissant des informations commerciales et financières pour :

  • Fournir des informations exploitables sur la performance financière, par le biais d’une analyse financière portant notamment sur le fonds de roulement, les facteurs de valeur et les coûts
  • Repérer les occasions et les risques, et faire des recommandations de manière proactive
  • Permettre aux gestionnaires de demander des comptes à l’organisation, de suivre les progrès par rapport au plan et de remettre en question les écarts
  • Assurer une budgétisation et une gestion adéquates des coûts de soutien pour l’entreprise, en collaboration avec le Contrôle financier

Contribuer à l’élaboration de la stratégie de l’entreprise et à la planification :

  • Avec l’équipe, travailler en partenariat avec les gestionnaires, les équipes des Finances et les autres parties prenantes de l’entreprise pour améliorer les processus de gestion de la performance et les indicateurs clés de performance tournés vers l’avenir
  • Modéliser et élaborer des plans financiers et des prévisions pour l’entreprise, en tenant compte des priorités d’affaires et organisationnelles
  • Travailler en partenariat avec les parties prenantes à Montréal pour comprendre, prévoir et optimiser le fonds de roulement du Groupe, afin de fournir à la direction des informations et une stratégie d’influence en vue de générer de la valeur
  • Soutenir le suivi des initiatives (Momentum), l’établissement de rapports et l’évaluation afin d’étayer la mesure de la contribution de l’Approvisionnement et des Affaires commerciales au bénéfice net
  • Agir comme conseiller ou conseillère et prévoir les nouvelles initiatives axées sur la valeur (Bâtir le plein potentiel)

Mener des initiatives de changement et de transformation au sein des Finances :

  • Démontrer la valeur que Rio Tinto accorde à l’amélioration continue et à l’excellence, en optimisant les pratiques et les processus des partenaires d’affaires des Finances
  • Tirer parti des connaissances individuelles pour contribuer au niveau de connaissances globale de l’équipe et cibler les occasions de perfectionnement 
  • Soutenir l’évolution du processus de gestion de la performance, en mettant l’accent sur des indicateurs clés de performance (ICP) tournés vers l’avenir et des discussions axées sur la recherche de solutions
  • Tirer parti de la technologie accessible au sein de l’équipe des Finances
  • Fournir un mentorat aux nouveaux venus dans l’équipe, au besoin
  • Soutenir la discipline fonctionnelle en matière de coûts dans les équipes de l’Approvisionnement et des Affaires commerciales

Votre contribution

Pour que votre candidature soit prise en considération, les exigences sont les suivantes :

  • Profonde curiosité et volonté d’apprendre sur l’entreprise et de travailler en partenariat avec les parties prenantes des équipes des Affaires commerciales, des Finances des GP et du Contrôle financier
  • Habileté à mettre en relation des personnes à l’échelle du Groupe pour résoudre des problèmes 
  • Participation proactive étayée par la capacité d’évaluer objectivement, de réfléchir et de remettre en question les performances et les plans de l’entreprise
  • Expérience en gestion efficace d’une équipe de parties prenantes diversifiées et en développement des relations dans un modèle matriciel
  • Recherche de l’amélioration continue, de la création de valeur et de l’atténuation des risques
  • Solides compétences analytiques pour contribuer à la réflexion stratégique et prospective
  • Au moins 10 ans d’expérience en finances, idéalement dans le secteur des produits de base
  • Diplôme pertinent et (ou) titre professionnel tel que CFA, CA, CPA ou MBA
  • Maîtrise du français et de l’anglais (à l’écrit comme à l’oral). Rio Tinto est une société mondiale; les responsabilités associées à ce poste exigent une collaboration quotidienne avec des collègues, des équipes et des partenaires de l’extérieur du Québec.

Emplacement du poste

L’équipe des Affaires commerciales de Rio Tinto met en pratique l’approche de « valeur avant les volumes » de l’entreprise, dans le but d’optimiser la valeur des flux physiques et d’améliorer ainsi les affaires du Groupe et celles de ses clients. Cette équipe, dont le siège social se trouve à Singapour, est intégrée aux différents actifs, centres d’affaires et bureaux de Rio Tinto à l’échelle mondiale. Elle travaille conjointement avec nos groupes de produits pour s’assurer que nos volumes et types de production répondent aux besoins de nos clients, et elle cherche à atteindre l’équilibre entre quantité, qualité, coûts et dépenses en immobilisations.

We are looking for a Principal Advisor, Finance Business Partner for our Commercial division in the Atlantic.

The role is a fantastic opportunity to work with multiple stakeholders to provide advice to the business and support the development and execution of strategic decision making. Reporting to the Commercial Finance Business Partner Lead – Buy & Move, we are looking for an enthusiastic and curious individual to:

Think pro-actively, take initiative and work confidently with senior stakeholders.

Drive performance management by providing commercial and financial insight to:

  • Provide actionable insights into financial performance, through financial analysis including working capital, value drivers and costs
  • Identify opportunities and risks, and pro-actively make recommendations
  • Enable leaders to hold the organisation to account, monitor progress against plan and challenge variances
  • Enable proper support costs budgeting and management for the business in conjunction with Controllership

Contribute to the development of business strategy and planning:

  • With the team, partner with leaders, finance teams and other stakeholders across the business to improve performance management processes and forward-looking KPI’s
  • Model and develop financial plans and forecasts for the business including business and organisational priorities
  • Partner with stakeholders in Montreal to understand, forecast and optimise Group’s working capital to provide leadership with input and influence strategy for value generation
  • Support initiative tracking (Momentum), reporting and valuation to underpin measuring Procurement’s and Commercial Operation’s contribution to the bottom line
  • Advise and prepare pipeline of new value initiatives (Building Full Potential
  • Drive change initiatives and transformation in Finance
  • Exhibit Rio Tinto’s value for continuous improvement and excellence, optimizing FBP practices and processes
  • Leveraging on individual knowledge to contribute to the overall knowledge level of the team, and identify areas for growth and development opportunities
  • Support the evolution of the performance management process to focus on forward-looking KPIs and discussion to tease out the so-what’s
  • Leverage the use of available technology within the Finance team
  • Provide mentorship to junior team members where required
  • Support functional cost discipline across Procurement and Commercial Operations

About you

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:

  • A deep-seated curiosity and willingness to learn about the business and partner with stakeholders across Commercial, PG Finance and Controllership
  • A love for connecting people across the Group to solve problems 
  • Proactive participation underpinned by the ability to objectively assess, reflect and challenge performance and plans for the business
  • Experience effectively managing a diverse team of stakeholders and building relationships in a matrix model
  • Drive for continuous improvement, value creation and risks
  • Strong analytical and logical skills to contribute and support strategic and forward thinking
  • 10+ years finance experience ideally with exposure to commodities
  • Relevant degree and/or professional qualification e.g. CFA, CA, CPA, MBA
  • Fluent in French and English, both written and spoken. Rio Tinto is a global company and the duties of this position require daily collaboration with colleagues, teams or partners based outside Quebec.

Rio Tinto Commercial puts the company’s value over volume approach into practice, with the goal of maximizing the value of our physical flows to improve both our business and that of our customers.  Headquartered in Singapore, and integrated with Rio Tinto’s assets, hubs, and offices globally, our Commercial group works hand-in-hand with our product groups to ensure both the amount and types of products we produce meet our customer’s needs, and manage the trade-off between volumes, quality, cost and capital expenditure.
