Nous sommes généralement déployés dans de petites équipes produit avec des développeurs, des scientifiques, des chefs de produits, des professionnels de la livraison et des utilisateurs finaux, pour des périodes allant de 3 à 6 mois. Nous gérons l'intégralité du cycle de vie : de la formulation du problème, à la découverte des systèmes et ensembles de données disponibles, jusqu’à la conception et la mise en œuvre des solutions ML.

Nos livrables sont un mélange de preuves de concept (POC) et de produits minimums viables (MVP) visant à établir l'adhésion pour une industrialisation à long terme et le développement futur de produits au sein de l'entreprise.

Nous pavons la route au fur et à mesure, offrant ainsi l'opportunité de façonner et d'influencer nos pratiques en matière d'ingénierie, de cycles de vie du développement de modèles, de qualité logicielle, de revue par les pairs et de culture connexe tout au long du rôle.

Notre équipe n’est pas « taille unique » : nos meilleurs candidats proviennent de divers horizons techniques et de parcours professionnels. About the role

Finding better ways™ to provide the materials the world needs.

We are looking for self-starting team members with data engineering, full-stack, or product development experience who are keen to join our small, tight-knit Analytics team. It is a startup-like group of passionate people in a large mining organisation that is on the journey of uplifting its ML capabilities and overall engineering practices.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys end-to-end ownership of data-solutions, are passionate about the quality of your work, have a high level of curiosity, and enjoy on-the-job development of knowledge and capability: we believe you will find our team both engaging and rewarding.

Our Developers work with ML-Ops and Data professionals to help build products from the algorithms developed by our Data-Scientists. A day in the life of will be a mix of:

  • Designing and building ML pipelines for a range of industrial data sources
  • Running technical spikes to inform our broader ML Eng and Ops roadmap
  • Socialising our tech, culture, and practices within Rio Tinto
  • Engaging with Industrial Systems, Safety, Ethics, Cybersecurity teams
  • Mentoring emerging developers and scientists within Rio Tinto

We are typically deployed into small product teams with Developers, Scientists, Product Owners, Delivery Professionals, and end-users for around 3 to 6 months at a time. We own the whole lifecycle: from formulating the problem, discovery of available systems and datasets, through to design and implementation of the ML solutions.

Our outputs are a mix of Proof of Concepts (POCs) and Minimum Viable Products (MVPs) which aim to establish buy-in for longer term industrialisation and future product development in the business.

We're paving the road as we go, so there’s opportunity to shape and influence our practices in Engineering, Model Development Lifecycles, Software Quality, Peer Review, and related culture through the course of the role.

What you’ll bring

Our team isn’t one-size-fits-all: our best candidates have come from a broad range of technical backgrounds and career paths. Attitude, motivation, compassion, and intuition carry as much weight as your ability to wire a DAG up or smash a PR with 100% pass rate across a test suite.

(Just typed DAG into DDG and thought it looked cool? that counts as well)

If you have been in a team building apps, back-ends, or data systems at any scale you are a candidate we want to engage with. Exposure to data engineering, ML, and AI is a bonus but we have room for passionate people looking to grow their skills in these disciplines.

Likewise experience or qualifications in CS, Software Eng., ML Eng., Mathematical or Statistical disciplines will be well recognised as a part of our overall consideration for a candidate.
