About the role
We currently have various opportunities for Industrial and Heavy Industry Electricians on site to join our high performing Maintenance teams across our BSL (Boyne Smelter) Operations. Whether you’re new to your trade or an experienced professional, and whatever industry you have exposure to, we have opportunities that will provide interesting work and growth opportunities for everyone.
Your experience, career goals and lifestyle preferences will determine whether you join our Carbon Maintenance Team, our Reduction Line Maintenance Team, our Metal Products Team, our Power Supply Team or our General Maintenance Team.
We are currently actively seeking passionate, safety focused Electricians in the below teams and will have upcoming vacancies for other teams coming up so we encourage you to apply now–
Reduction Line Maintenance (continuous day/night lifestyle roster)

Experienced in plant maintenance, role will involve working on various crushing equipment, Overhead Cranes and pneumatics.
Defect Elimination – Carbon Maintenance (9 day fortnight or continuous day/night lifestyle roster)

Experienced in planned maintenance including conveyors, hydraulics, pneumatics and other plant equipment

Reporting to the Maintenance Team Leader for your team, your role may involve:

Maintaining and replacing electrical equipment

Execution of planned and unplanned breakdown maintenance
-
Troubleshooting, calibrating, repair and service of fixed plant electrical assets

Working at heights activities
-
Working autonomously, being reliable and positively contributing to the maintenance team, understanding the requirement to maintain assets in a safe and reliable condition

Identifying and implementing improvement initiatives which may involve working with many different disciplines within the organisation

Promoting and identifying HSE opportunities to improve equipment, processes and behaviours
-
Execution of defined primary and secondary scopes from SAP (CMMS)
What you’ll bring

Valid C Class drivers licence

An Australian 'A' grade Electrical licence

Proven history of fault finding and repairs on various electrical equipment

Proven maintenance experience working in heavy/industrial industry

Where you’ll be working
Boyne Smelters Limited is Australia’s second largest aluminium smelter with a 1,000-person strong workforce. Located approximately 20km south east of Gladstone at Boyne Island on the Central Queensland coast, BSL produces around 500,000 tonnes of aluminium per annum.
Activities at BSL include manufacturing carbon anodes in the carbon plant, aluminium production (smelting) in reduction lines, and casting of molten material into aluminium products ready to ship. The smelter is connected via a conveyor belt to the Queensland Alumina Limited refinery for the supply of alumina.
