About the role

We are looking for a Geoscientific System & Data Specialist II to deliver and administer high quality geoscientific data repositories and information management systems to the regional exploration teams, supporting them in the mineral discovery process.
Reporting to the Africa-Eurasia Principal Advisor – Geoscience and working in a collaborative community you will:

Support multiple exploration projects to generate and manage high quality exploration data using the required workflows, databases, systems, integration, governance and services to maximise data quality and availability.

Ensure adherence to compliance and corporate governance in the use of geoscience technical systems and promote best practices in data and information management.

Maintain, manage, support and provide training for geoscientific technical systems and data.

Provide hands on technical expertise in curating data, migrating data or compiling data handovers and collaborate with the wider Exploration Technical Knowledge group to ensure regional projects can benefit from current and future technical capabilities within the team.

Support high quality field data capture and communications.

Actively engage with project teams and business stakeholders to ensure data management requirements are defined, understood and delivered.

Work in a team environment implementing business improvements, successfully influence and manage change associated with implementing systems, information and/or data management solutions, services, practices or processes.

Engage with the regional and global Data and Information team to proactively identify and pursue improvements in systems and data management practices, including optimizing or automating workflows, and standardising approaches.
What you’ll bring
-
A commitment to the safety of yourself and your peers and ability to travel periodically to remote field sites.
-
Relevant tertiary qualifications such as in geosciences, earth sciences and/or IS&T are desirable.

Experience in an earth sciences, mineral exploration and/or relevant business with an understanding of the dynamics of the business as well as implications for providing systems and support to remote and virtual teams.

Extensive experience in managing relational databases including Drilling and Surface Sampling systems. Proven ability to script in SQL and/or Python is required, experience with acQuire would be highly regarded.

Sound analytical skills to understand business requirements, identify as well as evaluate options and deliver systems, information and data solutions to address business needs.

Proficiency and experience in GIS (Geographic Information System) and spatial data management systems.

An understanding of cloud data platforms and data science concepts would be beneficial and desirable Technical skills include Microsoft365 applications, automation and workflow management.

The proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively with a range of senior leaders, professional and technical staff to achieve customer focused outcomes through the sharing of expertise, skills and technical capability.
