Where you’ll be working
The project is owned by Simfer S.A. which is a joint venture owned by Rio Tinto (45.05%), Chinalco (39.95%) and the Government of Guinea (15%). Rio Tinto is the nominated operator of the Simandou ore block 3 and 4. Blocks 3 an 4 in the Simandou ranges represent one of the most significant untapped, high grade iron ore deposits today, with an indicated resource in excess of 1.7Bt.
The mine will create several thousand direct and indirect jobs, with an economic value of several billion dollars over the estimated mine life. Simandou will also serve as an engine for economic growth, and use best practices to create a safe, sustainable, and environmentally friendly operation. The iron ore from the mine will be used to produce vital products that modern society depends upon, such as electric vehicles, renewable energy infrastructure, buildings and bridges.
We are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Manager Procurement to join our team at the Simandou Project in Guinea.
As the Senior Manager Procurement, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and optimizing our procurement operations, ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services while maintaining the highest standards of quality. In addition to core procurement functions, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of local content strategies, supporting our commitment to sustainable and inclusive business practices.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead and manage the procurement team to achieve departmental objectives and key performance indicators. Inclusive of category management, sourcing, post contract award management and transactional buying and associated governance requirements across multiple geographies.

Oversight of the procurement governance and compliance framework to ensure business alignment and performance is delivered. This will include market engagement to drive the procurement compliance framework.

Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with project goals, logistics and supply chain challenges, and Rio Tinto's global procurement strategy and framework.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements and provide strategic procurement solutions, inclusive of our global procurement and project resources

Foster relationships with suppliers, negotiate contracts, and monitor supplier performance to ensure compliance with contractual obligations.

Support the development of local content strategies in line with the Local Content Law and obligations, promoting economic growth and community engagement in Guinea.

Deliver superior external stakeholder engagement by effectively managing the interface with JV Partners on Contract Management oversight (CMC) and influencing Governmental oversight of Local Content regulations and reporting.
Qualifications:
-
Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field.

Extensive experience in procurement and supply chain management, preferably in the mining industry or related heavy industries.

Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team. Inclusive of coaching and mentoring our local talent to be the subject matter experts and leaders of the future operations

Strong negotiation, contract management, and supplier relationship management skills.

Experience in developing and implementing local content strategies in developing countries is highly desirable.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with proficiency in English. French and or Chinese proficiency is a plus.

À propos du Projet Simandou Sud
Le projet de minerai de fer de Simandou (Blocs 3 & 4) est situé en République de Guinée, en Afrique de l'Ouest. Il s’agit d’un gisement de minerai de fer de haute qualité et de classe mondiale et représente l'une des plus grandes réserves connues de minerai de fer au monde.
Le projet Simandou Sud opère dans le cadre de la coentreprise Simfer où le gouvernement de Guinée détient 15 %, Rio Tinto et Chinalco Iron Ore Holdings (CIOH) , qui détiennent respectivement 45,05 % et 39,95 % de Simandou, continuent de travailler avec le gouvernement Guinéen pour explorer les options permettant de valoriser le gisement de minerai de fer de Simandou, ainsi que des mécanismes potentiels de collaboration sur les infrastructures requises au développement du Projet et aux opérations minières.

Votre milieu de travail
