We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Tradesperson to join the Reduction Maintenance Team at New Zealand’s Aluminium Smelter. Every hour of every shift, your safety and wellbeing is our number one priority. Joining our Tiwai whānau as a Mechanical Tradesperson, you’ll report to our Crew Leader and Superintendent team. This position will operate on our Roster 2 shift, 2 x 12 hour days 8am to 8pm and 2 x 12 hour nights 8pm to 8am then 4 days off.
You’ll follow a structured process to optimise preventative maintenance tactics and minimise overall business costs. With a demonstrated commitment to improving safety, cost and productivity, responsibilities include:
- Identify and conduct planned and unplanned repair and diagnostic work within production time constraints on a wide variety of equipment
- Promote and identify HSE opportunities to improve equipment, processes and behaviours
- Add value through identifying and implementing improvement initiatives and applying robust defecting elimination practices
- Manage your workload and act as a point of contact on jobs
- Continue to develop and improve how you work
What you’ll bring
You’ll have excellent communication skills and demonstrated experience in both autonomous and team-based work. Your curious mind will have you self-motivated, with the desire to learn and demonstrate an unwavering commitment to the safety of yourself and your team.
To be successfully considered, you’ll have:
- Completed a Level 4 or higher NZ recognised Mechanical Trade Apprenticeship/Certificate/Qualification
- A current full NZ Class 1 drivers licence
- An interest and eagerness in gaining knowledge and learning new skills
- A high degree of flexibility and strong problem-solving skills to identify and conduct planned and unplanned repair and diagnostic work
- Ability to work at heights or in confined spaces
- Demonstrated a commitment to safety and continuous improvement
