This role is responsible for placement of product from mine to market. The Commercial Manager is responsible for the negotiation of sulfuric acid sales and procurement contracts. The role ensures timely interaction with the sales operation team to ensure on-time delivery of the product per contract terms to the customer or operations whilst ensuring inventories and supply chain is optimised. This role has front line interaction with customers and suppliers with market intelligence gathering skills critical to the role. The Commercial Manager proactively manages existing customer relationships and also helps develop new customer relationships and markets.
Reporting to the GM Copper Products, Atlantic you will be actively involved with the following:
- Maintain and develop new customer relationships
- Explore, analyze, negotiate, and execute sales and value opportunities
- Negotiate and execute tolling and / or purchasing contracts
- Develop and execute sales and marketing strategy
- Understand, summarize, and communicate customer needs / profitability / segmentation
- Develop improved understanding of our customers’ customers – including end use knowledge
- Identify and analyze new commercial opportunities
- Maintain and develop ongoing risk and governance processes
- Gather and feedback Market Intel to Market Analysis team.
- Develop sound understanding of supply and demand dynamics and price drivers in target markets.
- Close coordination with Sales Operations team to ensure contractual commitments are met and any issues are resolved in a timely manner
- Close coordination with Operations and Logistics to ensure alignment and smooth execution of strategy
About you
To be successful in this role, you should have the following experience and skills:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Strong business to business customer interaction and relationship experience
- Sulfuric acid knowledge or market experience would be preferred
- Experience with bulk commodity metals, alloys, concentrates, and / or chemicals preferred
- Understanding of the mining or copper industry a plus
- Ability to solve complex problems.
- Sound organization, interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills
- Ability to operate in matrix organization and influence people
- Microsoft office skills
