About The Role
We are recruiting a Senior Advisor Digital (Orebody Knowledge), to champion the development of digital solutions that improve, streamline and establish best operator practices for Orebody Knowledge (OBK) in Rio Tinto Iron Ore (RTIO).
Working directly with multidisciplinary subject matter experts, operational stakeholders and digital product development teams, your role will be instrumental in driving the development and delivery of digital solutions used by directly our OBK frontline that support and optimise the process that turns orebodies into value.
You’ll be part of a dedicated team, supported by your leader to grow and achieve your own personal goals as well as the goals of the team and the RTIO Digital division.
Reporting to the Principal OBK Digital, will see you be responsible for:

Applying OBK best technical concepts into practice by applying existing digital solutions to solve current business problems, or support the full “ground up” design and build of future digital products that turn concept into reality

Assist in identifying and assessing fit-for-purpose or aligned data management platforms and applications that support the OBK Digital Strategy

Taking ownership of identified problems, solutions and priorities alongside other product teams that help solve end-to-end value chain opportunities where OBK plays an important role

Work proactively with centres of excellence, technical departments and frontline teams to understand, validate and rationalise pain points, business value and end user requirements to support solution delivery that incorporates “voice of the customer”

Build and communicate sound business value cases

Deliver against project timelines by managing multidisciplinary work

Actively engage and work alongside technology partners to enable delivery of development with a view to future solution support

Demonstrate agile principles and work in alignment with SCRUM, SAFe or other agile product frameworks
-
Assist with annual budgeting and resource forecasting, ensuring the product and team is set up for success

Role model "Growth mindset" behaviours and support the Principal Digital (OBK) to enable the overall vision for OBK Digital.
What you'll bring
-
A strong technical background (with site experience), in a role that is in, or is closely linked to, Orebody Knowledge – such as Geosciences, Metallurgy or Mine Engineering

Business expertise in key concepts of how Orebody Knowledge is applied across the value chain – such as, material measurement and characterisation, modelling and estimation, planning, execution, recovery, reconciliation, optimisation or value.

Previous experience with the delivery of an end-to-end change of technical process, project or system
-
A love of data and analytics, with previous exposure to databases, systems and mining applications, and a curiosity for all things Digital!

Robust problem-solving, root cause analysis and improvement skills, with a "can do" attitude

The ability to communicate with people at all levels, from senior management to those at the "coal face" of what we do – both inside RTIO and with our vendor partners

Strong presentation and engagement skills

An ability to work autonomously and prioritise effectively in a complex and dynamic environment

A strategic mindset with a focus on detail and risk, to enable success, sustainability and longevity of solutions.

Where you’ll be working
This role is based in our Perth CBD office and will require some site travel to facilitate project delivery and engagement. Flexible working arrangements available.
