We are looking for an Operations Centre (OC) Analyst – Smelting who will continuously monitor and support our Aluminium smelters within the Rio Tinto Pacific region.
The role will ensure rapid and standardized support to manage process deviations and maintain operational stability of each PacOps Smelter. This will be achieved through a suite of systems and processes, including the Vigie software that enables analysis of process data to generate smart alarms and escalations.
This position is an excellent opportunity to be an integral part of the OC team that has a strong safety, operational and problem-solving focus. You will work a 12.5hr day/night 4, 5, 5 shift roster in the Brisbane CBD and report to the Operations Centre Superintendent – Smelting. You will have the following responsibilities:
- Monitoring (24 hours a day, 7 days a week) of all the reduction lines operation and processes within our smelters (Pacific Operations)
- Identification of operational / technical instabilities, perform diagnosis, and prioritize actions through collaboration and engagement with site to ensure that intervention is carried out in a timely manner.
- Proactively engage remotely with technical teams, supervisors, and process controllers including involvement in technical / toolbox meetings (OC & sites).
- Embrace a standardized approach to work promoting effective and positive communication to deliver operational excellence.
- Conduct site visits to improve knowledge and foster collaboration with our Site teams
- Follow and apply Rio's Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) principles
What you will bring

- A high level of computer literacy and excellent verbal communication skills.
- Experience managing and influencing a wide range of stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to manage high complexity in a dynamic environment calmly and professionally
- Ability to analyse data, build options and present recommendations based on data quickly and effectively
- Passion for continuous improvement and data driven decision making
- Flexibility to cover shift rosters and leave coverage when required
- It would also be beneficial if you have:
- Passion to work as one team and drive improvement across our Smelters through listening and actively engaging with our Operational Teams
- Smelter operations, heavy industry, or process control experience
- Ability to pass on knowledge in a coaching and support role
- Ability to adhere to procedures and standardized approaches

The Brisbane Operations Centre is an area of our Pacific Operations Integrated Operations that plays a pivotal role in the future success of our Pacific Aluminium business. The team is responsible for driving the optimisation of the overall supply chain value using state-of-the-art monitoring processes and data driven decision making.
