This is a terrific opportunity to join our senior leadership team as Manager Technical Services and play a critical role managing the delivery of mine planning and technical functions that enables the safe and productive operations. We’re looking for an experienced leader to help build on our success and focus on the next level of safety, efficiency and productivity benefits across iron ore operations. This opportunity will see you positively leading and influencing whilst working with a diverse stakeholder group geographically spread across our iron ore business. You’ll be leading a multidisciplinary team of professionals specialising in mine planning, design and scheduling, geotechnical engineering, geology, drill and blast, data management and surveying.

About you
You are curious with excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills. You enjoy working with leaders, peers and teams to solve problems and seek opportunities to be part of taking Mine Technical Services forward.
Previous experience has enabled you to appreciate and expertly navigate the challenges associated with mine planning / design and managing technical services for large scale mining operations. The vision of optimising our mines’ productivity excites you coupled with the drive to present solutions that will help us to work smarter each and every day. You will hold highly developed stakeholder engagement skills enabling you to manage a wide range of stakeholders across different technical and operational boundaries.
Reporting to the General Manager Mine Technical Services, and working in a challenging and exciting environment within Iron Ore, you will:

Lead by example by embodying our values of courage, care and curiosity.

Deliver annual plan including Mine Planning, Scheduling, Geology, Geotechnical, Hydrogeology and Survey functions from Quarterly Forecast to execution for each mine site.

Deliver productivity framework on site which includes reconciliation, confirmation and benchmarking of Drill & Blast, and Load & Haul performance.

Empower your team to contribute to the cultural change process by fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration and continuous improvement.

Establish clear accountability measures to track progress and celebrate successes.

Drive a best operator mindset, by developing the right metrics and qualitative assessments to measure performance, whether that be program execution or the impact of cultural change efforts.

Remain adaptable and flexible in response to evolving circumstances or unforeseen challenges. Adjust strategies as needed while staying aligned with the overall vision.

Provide direct leadership to all reports including annual cyclical activities, regular performance conversations and support for team and individual technical development.

Actively support proactive engagement with Traditional Owners across the Pilbara.

Drive the development of technical capability though building technical competency and capability frameworks.

Developing networks externally with industry peers and academia to ensure that RTIO is adopting leading technical practices.

Recognised Degree/ Masters in Mining Engineering, Survey or Geoscience discipline.

Experience in leading large multidisciplinary teams

Where you’ll be working
Based in the Perth CBD, Central Park, this role encourages agile ways of working, on a Monday – Friday roster. Regular travel to the Pilbara is required.
