About the Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Trainer to join our Learning and Development (L&D) team. L&D are accountable for the complete learning cycle including identifying learning needs, designing learning content, scheduling for learning completion, delivery of learning, recording of learning completion and measurement of learning effectiveness against defined criteria.
The primary objective of this role is to work with Area Leaders and training personnel across the business, driving a high safety culture, to ensure competency-based training and assessments are delivered to the highest standard.
This full-time position, reporting to the Learning and Development Superintendent, operates Monday to Friday on a nine-day fortnight.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver training sessions and induction training as required in assigned area/s
- Develop and deliver training materials necessary to further develop personnel capability
- Carry out practical assessments, providing the relevant paperwork and record keeping
- Partner with area leaders and on-the-job training personnel to provide training, guidance and support to new and transferred employees to ensure they obtain the required knowledge within established timelines
- Provide coaching and support to on-the-job training personnel
- Undertake administrative duties related to the training being delivered
- Conduct regular reviews of training efforts to identify opportunities to improve quality, reduce cost and / or improve production, quality and safety
- Liaise with area leaders and training personnel across the business to help deliver best practice competency-based training and assessments

- TAE40122 Certificate IV Training and Assessment.
- 3 years minimum experience in similar role

Where you will be working
Our Weipa operations in Far North Queensland includes three bauxite mines, processing facilities, ship loaders, an export wharf, two ports, power stations, a rail network and ferry terminals.
Amrun, our newest mine, was completed in 2018 and will extend our Weipa bauxite operations by decades, significantly building on our 55-year history on the Western Cape and providing jobs and supporting business growth in the region. The mine is located on traditional land.
We work closely with the Traditional Owners to implement our agreements, ensuring that the benefits generated from mining support future generations and that important cultural heritage sites are identified and preserved.
