About the role
We are looking for a Senior Engineer, Project Engineering, to work in the Project Engineering Department to manage multiple projects during all stages. This position will have close contact with different projects stakeholders from operations, processing, environmental, safety, and maintenance teams to ensure compliance with the RTB Capital plan. Every hour of every shift, your safety and wellbeing is our number one priority. We do the work only if it is safe, and we invest to make sure every member of the team has the quality tools they need to do their job.
- The Senior Engineer will interact with project owners and project sponsors to scope out and plan the work and to gather and convey information.
- Most project designs and/or estimates are done by outside engineering firms. A professional relationship and proper control procedures are necessary to foster a responsive and productive design relationship. A number of engineering, construction or manufacturers are used to provide these services for the approximately 60+ annual projects that require this level of support.
- The Senior Engineer may interact with government agencies such as building permit departments.
- The Senior Engineer will interact with engineering firms, vendors, Rio Tinto procurement, and contractors to facilitate the design, equipment selection and procurement of projects.
- Key internal relationships with operations, maintenance groups and Boron Engineering
- Strong working relationship with H, S, E & Q subject matter experts
About you
To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
- BS Degree in Electrical Engineering discipline is preferred.
- 5 years of experience in mining or mineral processing engineering and operations or other heavy industrial industry.
- 5 years’ experience as Project Engineer. Knowledge of local building codes is a plus.
- A Project Management Professional certificate is a plus
- A Professional Engineer certificate valid in California is a plus
It will also be beneficial if you have:
- Leadership skills including strong communications skills are required as well as the ability to lead a team and cooperatively work within the operating structure.
- The Senior Engineer must be technically able to understand: process flow diagrams; material and energy balances; piping and instrument diagrams; building, safety and environmental codes; equipment specifications; construction drawings; AutoCAD software; Microsoft Projects; electronic databases/spreadsheets. This knowledge and understanding is used on a daily basis to manage the projects.
