About the role
We are looking for a Logistics Operations Executive to join our Asia Pacific Logistics Execution team, responsible for ensuring the safe and timely shipment of products valued at over $2 billion to and from international origins and destinations.
Based in our Singapore Commercial hub, the primary responsibility is to manage daily operational activities, working closely with a complex stakeholder group across the business to deliver optimal value for various business units. The role requires quick thinking and action to handle the dynamic business requirements, and the ability to forward plan and initiate solutions against anticipated issues. It provides opportunities to independently demonstrate problem-solving skills through improvement projects and daily operations.
Reporting to the Manager, APAC Logistics Execution, you will:

Plan and execute shipments to customers in diverse locations, including placing bookings, coordinating, and monitoring, whilst minimizing freight cost, optimizing working capital, and meeting commercial requirements.

Provide timely notification to all relevant parties on bookings and coordinate with stakeholders on subsequent changes.

Track shipping schedules, perform all required system-related updates, and resolve issues that may affect shipping, vessel slippage risk, and deliveries to the customers.

Act as the primary escalation point of contact for all operational issues raised by both internal and external stakeholders.

Process freight payments and resolve any payment disputes with vendors timely.

Ensure completeness of accrual of freight cost at the end month.

Develop and manage relationships with vendors, e.g. shipping lines, 3PLs, and internal stakeholders.

Investigate and handle claims relating to transportation and shipping.

Participate in continuous improvement projects, identify any process gaps, and propose improvement initiatives to reduce costs and/or improve service levels.

Participate in performance-related meetings and provide constructive feedback where relevant.
About you
To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
-
Degree in Business, Engineering, Economics, International Trade, Maritime/Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field.

Experience in container liner shipping, supply chain, logistics, or freight forwarding.
-
A team player, autonomous, and self-driven.
-
Excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written.
-
Determined problem solver with high-level attention to detail, strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
-
Solid time management skills and ability to prioritise workload in a changing environment and within tight deadlines.
-
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI, Tableau, or similar.

Exposure to SAP systems will also be beneficial.

Where you will be working
Headquartered in Singapore and integrated with Rio Tinto’s assets, hubs, and offices globally, our Commercial group works hand-in-hand with our product groups to ensure both the amount and types of products we produce meet our customers’ needs, and manage the trade-off between volumes, quality, cost, and capital expenditure.
