About the role
We are looking for an Adviser, Third Party Due Diligence, a critical role to Ethics & Compliance’s ability to deliver high quality third party due diligence checks and support our Group Businesses with managing third party risks. The advisor TPDD will work closely with other members of Ethics & Compliance, Rio Tinto Legal, Procurement, and Business Units to deliver accurate and risk-relevant due diligence reports. The adviser will support with implementation of Rio Tinto’s group Third Party Risk Management (TPRM) Framework.
This role is a great opportunity for a progressive professional to play a critical role in assisting the management of business integrity related risks and will have primary responsibility for collating and analyzing relevant data on Rio Tinto suppliers, customers and other third parties prior to the relevant business unit contracting (or renewing engagements) with such counterparties.

Reporting to the Third Party Due Diligence Lead, you will be:

Conducting risk-based due diligence checks on third parties, including careful analysis of ownership and legal status of third parties, including independent research and analysis of supporting information.

Identifying potential risks and coordinating the proper escalation of such findings to internal business contacts and/or Legal experts for further input where appropriate.

Providing final reports containing relevant findings and recommendations to business units.

Performing quality control on reports completed by peers and TPDD analysts.

Reviewing and clearing system-generated monitoring alerts and acting upon these accordingly.

Coordinating the implementation of the TPRM framework and standards, acting as key point of contact for stakeholders in the APAC region.

Identifying programme improvements and take ownership of the design and implementation of fit-for-purpose solutions.

Supporting the TPDD team with ongoing, planned and new projects.
About you
To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
-
B.A. Degree or equivalent.
-
3-5 years+ experience in a professional environment, legal or regulatory compliance role as a Due Diligence Analyst.

A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team.
-
Good working knowledge of performing due diligence, and of Anti-bribery & Corruption, ‘Know-Your-Supplier’ regulatory requirements; Basic knowledge of Anti-money Laundering and Modern Slavery regulatory requirements is a plus.

Proficiency and experience using Compliance/Due Diligence platforms when undertaking checks of third parties, acquiring data such as company information, corporate structures, sanctions and regulatory findings and adverse media.

Competent user of all Microsoft office packages, specifically PowerPoint and Excel.

Professional level communications skills in English and Chinese (Mandarin) languages (verbal and written).

Experience with extractive industry business operations, logistics or supply chain is advantageous.

Headquartered in Singapore, and integrated with Rio Tinto’s assets, hubs, and offices globally, our Commercial group works hand-in-hand with our product groups to ensure both the amount and types of products we produce meet our customer’s needs, and manage the trade-off between volumes, quality, cost and capital expenditure.
