We are looking for a PMO Advisor to drive structured and detailed coordination, planning, and the successful delivery of strategic initiatives within the Copper Health, Safety, Environment, Security & Communities (HSESC) function.
In this pivotal role, you will keep programs, workstreams, reporting cycles aligned and on track, and engage effectively with relevant stakeholders. Your efforts will ensure that our most important objectives are executed with clarity and impact.
Reporting directly to the Vice President of Copper HSESC, your key responsibilities will include:
- Translate complex initiatives into actionable plans with clear milestones and deliverables.
- Use MS Planner and other tools to monitor progress, assign resources, and maintain momentum.
- Maintain high standards of reporting by validating data and creating stakeholder-ready presentations and outputs.
- Lead and facilitate working groups, regular drumbeats, and planning sessions.
- Manage SharePoint and other collaboration platforms to keep all documentation and reporting up to date and accessible.
- Identify and implement process improvements to drive efficiency, and alignment.
- Support onboarding, mentoring, and training initiatives for the Copper HSESC function.
- Coordinate annual planning activities (including budget) for communications, events, and meetings.
- Build strong relationships and adapt communication to suit a variety of audiences.
- Champion innovation and a culture of continuous improvement across systems and teams.
What you’ll bring
- A strong commitment to safety—for yourself and your team.
- 5+ years of experience in project coordination, systems management, or strategic delivery roles.
- Solution-focused, proactive, strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines with precision.
- Experience with Microsoft Planner, SharePoint, and reporting tools (Power BI preferred).
- Detail-oriented mindset with a passion for structure, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
- Ability to lead meetings, facilitate collaboration, and drive accountability.
- Strategic thinker who thrives in dynamic environments and adapts quickly to change.
- Demonstrated success in coordinating cross-functional initiatives and reporting cycles.

Where you’ll be working
You’ll be based in Salt Lake City, Utah, supporting the Copper Health, Safety, Environment, Security & Communities (HSESC) function across Rio Tinto’s global copper operations. Copper is a critical material for the energy transition, and Rio Tinto’s Copper product group spans multiple assets and regions, including North and South America.
The Copper HSESC team plays a pivotal role in driving safety, sustainability, and performance across the business. From strategic planning and reporting to innovation and stakeholder engagement, this team ensures that Copper operations are aligned, informed, and continuously improving.
