La persona en el rol de Asesor/a Principal II en Geociencias será responsable de desarrollar y liderar la estrategia de conocimiento del yacimiento para el proyecto Comita y el paquete de terrenos en Colombia. Esto incluye colaborar en la identificación de nuevas oportunidades de exploración en el país, liderar el diseño y ejecución de programas de desarrollo de recursos, estudios geotécnicos y geometalúrgicos, modelado geológico y de recursos, así como la exploración para identificar, priorizar y probar objetivos geológicos, geoquímicos y geofísicos que permitan realizar nuevos descubrimientos.
Este rol será reconocido como experto/a en evaluación de proyectos y exploración, con una profundidad y amplitud especializada de conocimientos. Además, liderará y formará un equipo (incluyendo la mentoría de personal menos experimentado) para ejecutar actividades de exploración y evaluación alineadas con la priorización de objetivos y necesidades de estudio.
Responsabilidades y áreas clave de enfoque
- Liderar la implementación de mejores prácticas para el descubrimiento y evaluación de yacimientos de cobre, seleccionando tecnologías, aplicando estándares técnicos y desarrollando capacidades.
- Brindar asesoramiento experto sobre prioridades del portafolio regional con el objetivo de generar descubrimientos de clase mundial.
- Desarrollar una red de especialistas en la disciplina dentro de la industria, el ámbito académico y proveedores externos de I+D.
- Influir en el desarrollo técnico de la región/país/unidad de negocio compartiendo conocimientos, fortaleciendo habilidades y capacidades para identificar y actuar sobre oportunidades.
- Contribuir a la estrategia regional influyendo en decisiones basadas en el conocimiento técnico del recurso y la disciplina.
- Participar, y en ocasiones liderar, procesos de due diligence, asociaciones estratégicas y adquisiciones relacionadas con la evaluación de oportunidades técnicas/comerciales para mejorar el portafolio regional.
- Implementar la estrategia comprendiendo e interpretando los impulsores del negocio y aplicándolos a la disciplina y al recurso.
Lo que necesitas para ser considerado/a
- Título universitario en Geología o Geociencias.
- Conocimiento profundo de depósitos de pórfido de cobre.
- Experiencia en programas de exploración y evaluación de proyectos avanzados, con historial comprobado en promoción de descubrimientos.
- Sólido entendimiento de metodologías geotécnicas y geometalúrgicas, y su integración en la planificación minera.
- Capacidad demostrada para liderar equipos técnicos y gestionar programas complejos en geociencias.
- Experiencia en la implementación adecuada de tecnología para innovar en evaluación y descubrimiento.
- Experiencia en mentoría y desarrollo de talento técnico en disciplinas de geociencias.
- Habilidades sólidas de colaboración y relacionamiento con actores internos y externos.
- Mentalidad estratégica con enfoque en excelencia operativa y mejora continua.
- Alto nivel de autonomía en la toma de decisiones y ejecución.
- Comunicación efectiva en español e inglés.

About the position

The Principal Advisor II Geoscience is responsible for developing and owning the orebody knowledge strategy for Comita and the wider Colombian land package including collaborating to identify new exploration opportunities in Country. This includes leading the design and execution of resource development programs, geotechnical and geometallurgical studies, geological modeling, resource modeling, as well as conducting exploration for the identification, prioritisation and testing of geological, geochemical and geophysical targets to make new discoveries.
The Principal Advisor II will be recognised as an expert in project evaluation and exploration requiring specialised depth and/or breadth of expertise and will build and lead a team (including training/mentoring less experienced staff) to transact exploration and evaluation activities in line with target prioritisation and study needs.
Responsibilities & key focus areas
- Leads the implementation of best practice for the discovery and evaluation of copper orebodies. Selects technology, applies technical standards and builds capability.
- Provides expert specialist advice on regional portfolio priorities with the aim of generating a tier one discovery.
- Develops a network of discipline specialists throughout industry, academia and external research and development providers.
- Influences the technical capability of the region/ country/ Business Unit by sharing expertise, building skills and technical capability to recognise and act on opportunities.
- Contributes to strategy within the region by influencing decisions based on understanding of discipline/ commodity requirements.
- Plays a supporting role, sometime leading in due diligence, joint venture and takeover exercises associated with the evaluation of technical/ commercial opportunities to improve the regional portfolio.
- Implements strategy by understanding and interpreting the business drivers and applying/ interpreting these for the discipline/ commodity.
What you will bring and require to be considered for this role
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology / Geoscience.
- Deep knowledge of Copper Porphyry deposits.
- Contributed to exploration programmes and advanced project evaluation with experience and track record of promoting discovery.
- Strong understanding of geotechnical and geometallurgical methodologies and their integration into mine planning.
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams and manage complex geoscience programs.
- Demonstrated experience of appropriate implementation of technology to innovate in evaluation and discovery.
- Experience in mentoring and developing technical talent across geoscience disciplines.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and collaboration skills across internal and external networks.
- Strategic mindset with a focus on operational excellence and continuous improvement.
- High level of autonomy in decision-making and execution.
- Strong communication skills in Spanish and English.
