Buscamos un/a Superintendente de Operaciones de Aviación para brindar soporte, experiencia y garantía en las operaciones aéreas de RTX, incluyendo la gestión de contratistas de aviación, con el objetivo de fortalecer la reputación de Rio Tinto como Mejor Operador en exploración y evaluación de proyectos. Esto implica colaborar proactivamente en la planificación de operaciones aéreas, participar en la selección de contratistas y equipos, y aprobar al proveedor final para cada proyecto.
Este rol brinda orientación y apoyo a los equipos operativos en terreno para asegurar el cumplimiento de los estándares de aviación de RT, incluyendo el uso de drones, y aprueba la selección del proveedor de servicios de aviación. Reportando al Gerente Regional de Operaciones, tus principales responsabilidades incluirán:
• Colaborar con los Gerentes de Exploración, Proyectos y Proyectos Avanzados para garantizar eficiencia en las operaciones aéreas sin comprometer la seguridad ni la rentabilidad.
• Trabajar con contratistas de aviación para asegurar alineación y cumplimiento con los estándares de aviación de Rio Tinto.
• Aportar experiencia en la redacción de alcances de trabajo y participar activamente en la planificación de programas de aviación.
• Evaluar el impacto de cambios y gestionar la preparación organizacional y la resistencia, facilitando una adopción segura y efectiva.
• Integrar aprendizajes internos y externos, proponiendo o implementando mejoras en salud, seguridad, medio ambiente (HSE) y eficiencia operativa.
• Influir en el desempeño de proveedores según los entregables contractuales, asegurando responsabilidad y alineación con los objetivos del proyecto.
• Fomentar una cultura de colaboración, compromiso y mejora continua mediante la participación activa de los grupos de interés.
• Supervisar y desarrollar el desempeño del equipo local en línea con los valores de Rio Tinto, impulsando el crecimiento de capacidades y la alineación con los objetivos del proyecto.
• Brindar garantía a los equipos de gestión de RTX sobre operaciones aéreas seguras, eficientes y efectivas.
Lo que vas a aportar
• Fuerte compromiso con la seguridad y la sostenibilidad ambiental
• Mínimo 5 años de experiencia gestionando operaciones de aeronaves de ala fija y helicópteros
• Conocimiento profundo de BARS e IAGSA
• Especialización en técnicas de carga externa, incluyendo perforación y campamentos apoyados por helicópteros
• Conocimiento en operaciones con drones
• Amplia experiencia en supervisión de ejecución en terreno, liderando personas y trabajo seguro
• Sólidas habilidades de liderazgo, comunicación e interpersonales
• Experiencia en gestión de subcontratistas
• Capacidad para influir en Gerentes Generales, Gerentes de Exploración y Gerentes de Proyecto
• Dominio del español e inglés

We are looking for a Superintendent Aviation Operations for providing assurance, support and expertise to Rio Tinto’s aviation operations including the influence of aviation contractors to promote and develop RTX’s reputation as Best Operator in the exploration and evaluation of projects. This includes proactive collaboration in the planning of aviation operations, significant input into contractor and equipment selection and approval of the final contractor selected for each project.
This role provides guidance and supports the operational teams at site to ensure compliance with RT’s aviation standard including the use of drones and approves the selection of the aviation service provider. Reporting to Regional Operations Manager your key Responsibilities will include:
- Working with Exploration, Project and Advanced Project Managers to ensure that efficiency is brought to aviation operations without compromising safety and cost effectiveness.
- Working with aviation contractors to ensure alignment and compliance with Rio Tinto aviation standards
- Providing expertise in drafting scopes of work and is proactive in the planning of aviation programmes.
- Evaluating the impact of changes and manages organizational readiness and resistance, enabling safe and effective adoption.
- Integrating and applying internal and external lessons learned, and proposes or implements improvements in health, safety, environment (HSE), and operational efficiency.
- Influencing vendor performance against contractual deliverables, ensuring accountability and alignment with project objectives.
- Fostering a culture of collaboration, engagement, and continuous improvement through active stakeholder involvement.
- Supervising and develops local team performance in line with Rio Tinto’s values, driving capability growth and alignment with project goals.
- Providing assurance to RTX Management teams of the safe, efficient and effective aviation operations.
What You’ll Bring
- A strong commitment to safety and environmental sustainability.
- 5 years of experience managing and overseeing fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters operations
- In-depth knowledge of BARS and IAGSA
- Specialist in slinging techniques, encompassing helicopter-supported drilling and helicopter-supported camps
- Knowledge of drone operations
- Deep experience in field execution supervision roles, leading people and safe work.
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. - Experience in the management of subcontractors
- Ability to influence GM, EM and PMs
- Fluent in Spanish and English
