About the role
Oyu Tolgoi Procurement provides procurement and supply chain management that deliver value to the company through product lifecycle category management, strategic sourcing, buying of goods and services for all operations as well as inbound logistics, warehouse management, inventory control and facility management.
This is a career-defining opportunity for an exceptional leader to manage a high-performing, diverse, and values-based Procurement team based in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. The key focus of the role is to coach, develop and lead a local team of procurement professionals. This role will report to the GM Procurement OT, be key member of the Global Procurement ELT, and work closely with OT Procurement leadership and Global Procurement stakeholders, with regular progress reviews and scope adjustments as needed. Successful candidate will be supporting to build capability and leadership bench strength via coaching, enabling cross-category rotation (aligned to integrity controls), uplift procurement capability, foster cross-functional learning, and develop future leaders.
- Coach and mentor OT Category Management practitioners, apply the Global Procurement skills matrix and facilitating access to procurement learning and capability programs
 - Foster collaboration and shared learning between OT Procurement and Global Procurement teams to drive best practice adoption and continuous improvement
 - Enable cross-category rotation and talent movement for procurement leaders and practitioners, supporting capability uplift and integrity controls work
 - Unlock efficiency and simplification across the OT procurement model, streamlining workflows and enabling more agile, cost-effective operations
 - Strengthen compliance, integrity, and accountability throughout the procurement lifecycle
 
- Deliver sustainable improvement through clear milestones and knowledge transfer to the team
 - Embed global best practices in procurement and risk management (in Source-to-Contract, Third Party Risk Management, and Contract Management), directly addressing improvment plans in place
 - Accelerate transformation by digitization, process standardization, and assurance activities.
 
- Pilot digital contract management tools (e.g., Ariba CPM) to improve process visibility and compliance
 - Develop systems for contractor site time tracking, rate card application, and qualification validation
 - Standardize contract roles and services to enable Outline Agreements (OAs) and contractor engagement solutions
 - Implement OAs in services procurement to enforce rates, define scope, and streamline PO/invoice processes
 - Promote standardized time-and-materials (T&M) agreements for labor and equipment
 - Align invoice checks, claim management, and price escalation processes with the Digitization Roadmap
 
What you will bring:
- Relevant university qualifications in Supply Chain / Procurement Management, business administration and relevant discipline with extensive work experience
 - Seasoned procurement leader with expertise in Category Management, systems deployment, and work experience in non-OECD countries
 - Proven ability to lead digitization and process improvement initiatives
 - Strong coaching, mentoring, and talent development skills
 - Experience in cross-functional and cross-geography procurement environments
 - Demonstrated commtment to integrity, compliance, and business improvement
 
- Ability to present, communicate and influence effectively with stakeholders at all levels in the organization;
 - Proven experience interfacing with cross-functional teams and across multiple jurisdictions
 - Strong analytical mindset, project management skills, and self-motivated with high energy and personal integrity.
 
It is also beneficial if you have:
- Experience in working globally across diverse cultures;
 - Previous experience working with multiple stakeholders/management across multiple regions and time-zones.

Where you’ll be working
Oyu Tolgoi is an operating Copper / Gold open pit and underground mine. The site is located in the Gobi Desert region of Mongolia. The reserves case for the underground project is in the order of 0.5 billion tonnes of ore to be mined from the 95,000 tonnes per day Hugo North Lift 1 (HNL1) panel cave mine with a 20-year operations life. There is also the potential for 3 further block cave districts to increase mine life beyond 100 years.
