About the role
We are looking for a Senior Advisor – Remediation to join the Rio Tinto Kennecott (RTK) Environment Team and provide technical, and regulatory support across CERCLA and RCRA cleanup programs while directly supporting and reporting to the Principal Advisor Environment.
This role guides environmental investigation and remediation work, supports effective regulatory negotiations, manages contractors, and ensures high‑quality data collection and project execution.
The position requires strong organization, communication, and the ability to lead and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Overseeing development and implementation of site investigation and remediation strategies, supporting preparation and reviewing of UFP‑QAPPs, sampling plans, data management systems, and risk‑based evaluations.
- Shaping project direction by interpreting federal and state requirements and translating them into technically sound, defensible actions.
- Serving as a key point of contact for regulators and stakeholders, ensuring alignment, transparency, and timely resolution of issues.
- Guiding contractors and internal teams, managing scopes, schedules, and deliverables, and ensuring project work meets regulatory and company standards.
- Mentoring staff, supporting stakeholder engagement, and promoting a culture of technical excellence and accountability across soil, groundwater, and multi‑media remediation programs.
Qualification(s)
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Geology, or a related field.
- 5+ years of environmental remediation experience, including work on CERCLA and/or RCRA sites.
- Strong technical background in soil management (including lead, arsenic, and other key constituents) and groundwater investigation and remediation.
- Demonstrated experience developing and reviewing UFP‑QAPPs, sampling plans, and environmental data systems, including data validation and statistical evaluation.
- Proven ability to support and manage contractors, field programs, scopes of work, schedules, and technical deliverables.
- Experience coordinating with and negotiating alongside regulatory agencies; ability to translate regulatory requirements into practical project strategies.
- Excellent communication, organization, and stakeholder‑management skills across multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to support and collaborate closely with senior leadership, including the Principal Advisor, while mentoring junior staff.
- Strong project management skills; PMP certification is a plus.
