About the role
We are looking for a forward-looking candidate, who will partner with HRBPs and Leaders to drive people outcomes aligned with Rio Tinto Commercial’s business strategy. This will include a range of activities from translating commercial strategy into a delivery road map; to providing operational & tactical HR advisory support to dedicated client areas.
In close partnership with the HR Business Partners, this role is responsible for the delivery of HR services to the business such as employee and labour relations, recruitment, talent, pension and benefits, performance management and compensation and cyclical HR processes.
This role is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced HR practitioner who thrives on and takes pride in building and owning stakeholder relationships across different cultures and time zones. Reporting to the Manager HR Operations (Commercial), you will:
- Establishing and maintaining strong partnerships with key stakeholders within the Commercial organisation. Working collaboratively with various teams to understand their needs and challenges whilst balancing alignment with relevant internal and external boundaries
- Support the HR Manager and HR Business Partners in deployment of special projects, interventions and recurring annual activities such as salary review, talent review and change management.
- Translate Commercial strategy into a delivery roadmap and execute, co-ordinating with local, regional and global teams as required
- Actively seeking opportunities to simplify HR processes and improve service delivery. By analysing data trends and generating insights, you will identify areas for improvement and make recommendations to enhance the overall HR service and outcomes for the business.
- Support the leadership team with any emerging labour relations concerns. This includes handling case management, conducting investigations, addressing grievances and complaints, and ensuring alignment with the broader employee relations strategy.
- Encouraging data-driven insights, you will proactively identify potential gaps and develop strategies to address them, contributing to informed decision-making within the HR team and the broader organization.
What you will need for the role
To succeed in this role, you will have:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources or equivalent
- Proven abilities in building effective virtual relationship with team and stakeholders
- Effective partnering experience with leaders in a global organisation
- Experience in influencing and leading matrix team to deliver excellence
- Effective coach and mentor to HR colleagues and leaders
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, deliver and implement change in a complex, networked/matrix global organisation across multiple countries and cultures
- Effective stakeholder management across a range of countries and cultures
- A proven track record delivering results – a can do attitude, willingness to get involved in different types of tasks, be organised and have a bias for action
- Ability to pragmatically resolve complex issues across several countries
- Flexibility to work across time zones and hold a high level of integrity, confidentiality and credibility
- Relevant experience and technical expertise in Human Resources
It will also be beneficial if you have:
- Experience in the commodities sector
- Experience in PowerBI / Data Analytics
