Nous sommes à la recherche d’un(e) chef(fe) de service principal(e), Relations avec les Autochtones pour aider le conseiller en chef mondial, Relations avec les Autochtones à rebâtir les relations et la réputation de Rio Tinto en Amérique du Nord au moyen d’engagements stratégiques, de perspectives politiques sur les affaires autochtones et des activités externes de représentation.

Ce poste est une excellente occasion pour un ou une expert(e) en Relations Autochtones de contribuer à l’établissement et à l’exécution de nos initiatives afin de soutenir les activités de Rio Tinto dans la région, dans l’objectif d’améliorer continuellement notre performance sociale au bénéfice de nos employé(e)s Autochtones et nos communautés d’accueil

Relevant du conseiller en chef mondial, Relations avec les Autochtones et travaillant au sein d’une communauté collaborative, vous devrez :

  • Établir avec la communauté Autochtone et d’autres parties prenantes clés un réseau externe solide et efficace permettant d’entretenir des relations positives et durables qui contribueront à renforcer la réputation de Rio Tinto.
  • Obtenir des parties prenantes externes et internes l’engagement de promouvoir les activités commerciales de Rio Tinto en Amérique du Nord et d’exécuter le plan de l’équipe Communautés et performance sociale (CPS) en matière de relations avec les Autochtones.
  • Exercer un mandat de surveillance axé sur les problèmes actuels et émergents qui sont importants pour les activités et les priorités stratégiques de Rio Tinto en Amérique du Nord.
  • Soutenir de façon proactive les groupes de produits et les fonctions de l’Amérique du Nord en leur fournissant au besoin des renseignements et des conseils sur les affaires Autochtones et les enjeux politiques.
  • Déterminer et créer des occasions permettant aux gestionnaires de Rio Tinto en Amérique du Nord de communiquer et de rester en contact avec les parties prenantes externes.
  • Contribuer à intégrer les connaissances acquises dans le cadre des mandats externes aux processus de planification stratégique et de gestion des risques.
  • Promouvoir et soutenir les activités de l’équipe Affaires autochtones – Amérique du Nord de Rio Tinto.
  • Favoriser la mise en œuvre de stratégies destinées à optimiser le potentiel des actifs et à exécuter les plans, en alignant les ressources, le personnel, les plans de relève et le développement.
  • Établir des processus efficaces de budgétisation, de prévision ainsi que de gestion et d’analyse des coûts assurant la conformité avec les politiques et les procédures de l’entreprise en matière de finances et de gouvernance, ainsi qu’avec les normes de présentation de l’information.
  • Déterminer et quantifier les risques inhérents au budget et aux activités du service; définir et implanter des stratégies appropriées d’atténuation des risques.
  • Livrer des budgets et des prévisions conformément au cycle de planification des activités.

  • Compétences culturelles démontrées
  • Aptitude éprouvée pour l’exécution et la gestion de projets ou de programmes stratégiques, la gestion des parties prenantes et la gestion des risques liés aux projets ou aux programmes
  • Excellente connaissance des pratiques de recrutement de candidat(e)s Autochtones et issu(e)s de la diversité, ainsi que du mécanisme permettant d’intégrer les compétences culturelles au sein de groupes diversifiés.
  • Bonne connaissance de la gestion du patrimoine culturel et des exigences législatives.
  • Solides compétences organisationnelles, souci du détail et capacité à travailler en mode multitâche
  • Pensée structurée et organisée, et capacité à travailler à un rythme soutenu
  • Si vous postulez pour le poste basé à Montréal (Québec), vous devez maîtriser le français et l’anglais à l’oral et à l’écrit. Senior Manager, Indigenous Relations North America

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Manager, Indigenous Relations to support the Global Chief Advisor, Indigenous Relations in leading the rebuild of Rio Tinto’s relationships and reputation across North America through strategic engagements, policy insights on Indigenous matters and external advocacy.

This is a great opportunity for an Indigenous Relations expert to support the establishment and execution of Indigenous Relations initiatives in support of the Rio Tinto businesses across the region, with the objective of continually improving our social performance and benefit to Indigenous employees and host communities.

Reporting to the Global Chief Advisor Indigenous Relations, and working in a collaborative community, this role has the following responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain a strong, effective external network of Indigenous and other key stakeholders that deliver positive and enduring relationships to support the strengthening of Rio Tinto’s reputation
  • Undertake strategic external and internal stakeholder engagements to advocate for Rio Tinto’s business activities in North America and deliver the CSP Indigenous Relations plan
  • Maintain a watching brief and monitor current and emerging external issues of importance to Rio Tinto’s operations and strategic areas of focus in North America
  • Proactively support the Product Groups and Functions in North America with advice, insight and guidance on Indigenous issues and policy matters as required
  • Identify and enable strategic opportunities for Rio Tinto leaders in North America to engage and connect with external stakeholders
  • Contribute to business knowledge from external engagements into the strategic planning and risk management processes
  • Champion and support the activation of activities of the Rio Tinto Indigenous Affairs North America team
  • Driving the implementation of strategies to maximise asset potential and deliver on the plans; aligning resources, people, succession plans and development
  • Establish effective budgeting, forecasting, cost management and analysis processes ensuring compliance with company financial and governance policies, procedures, and reporting standards:
  • Identifying and quantifying the risks inherent in the budget and departmental operations define and mandate appropriate mitigation strategies
  • Delivering budgets and forecasts as per the business planning cycle

What you’ll bring

  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
  • Up to 10 -12 years’ experience in managing complex problems
  • Demonstrated cultural competency
  • Proven success in strategic project or programme delivery and management, stakeholder management and project or programme risk management
  • Solid understanding diversity and Indigenous recruitment practices, including understanding mechanism to successful embed Cultural Competency across diverse groups
  • Sound understanding of cultural heritage management and legislative requirements
  • Solid organisational skills, including attention to detail and multitasking skills
  • A structured and organised thinker who is comfortable working at pace.
