Influence at senior level, working closely with global teams.

12-month engagement with possible extension.
About the role
At Rio Tinto, we are delivering one of the most significant digital transformations in our history through our Modern ERP program, replacing SAP ECC with SAP S/4HANA on RISE.
As Environment Manager, you will play a critical role in enabling this transformation by owning and optimising the non‑production SAP S/4HANA environment landscape. Operating within the RISE commercial and technical model, you will ensure delivery teams have access to fit‑for‑purpose environments while balancing cost, utilisation, risk, and program priorities.
This role is pivotal to ensuring our build, test and migration activities can be delivered safely, efficiently, and at scale.
What you’ll be doing
-
Own and operate the non‑production SAP S/4HANA environment landscape for the Modern ERP program, ensuring environments are stable, fit for purpose and aligned to delivery milestones.
-
Act as the primary interface with the hyperscalers and delivery partners for environment‑related operational matters under the RISE model.
-
Lead environment demand and capacity management, balancing competing program needs while optimising utilisation and sequencing.
-
Enable complex program activities including trial migrations, data remediation, dress rehearsals and solution validation.
-
Coordinate environment configuration, refreshes, transport pathways, freezes and release readiness across build, test and assurance phases.
-
Provide commercial oversight and input for environment‑related requests, supporting business cases and ensuring cost impacts are transparent and understood.
-
Serve as the escalation point for environment‑related incidents, driving root cause analysis and preventative improvements.
-
Establish and maintain environment governance, controls and compliance, ensuring security, audit readiness and continuous optimisation.
What you’ll bring
-
5+ years’ experience managing ERP environments within large‑scale transformation programs.
-
Strong experience working across SAP landscapes, including non‑production environments.
-
Solid understanding of the ERP delivery lifecycle, particularly Build, Test and Cutover.
-
Proven ability to manage complex dependencies and competing priorities.
-
Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence without direct authority.
What we offer
-
Attractive compensation that is aligned to the specialist nature and impact of the role.
-
Flexible working arrangements.
-
A safety-focused and inclusive working environment.
-
Career development to further your ambitions.
-
Ongoing individual wellbeing support.
-
Flexible working arrangements.
-
Be part of Rio Tinto’s global Modern ERP transformation, contributing directly to one of the organisation’s most significant multi‑year programs.
-
High‑impact contract role where your expertise helps shape the future of Planning & Reporting across a global enterprise.
