About the role
The Supervisor leads a team of technicians to assess machinery health, driving proactive maintenance to ensure high equipment reliability
Develop and maintain standards for condition monitoring techniques and integrate findings into the CMMS/APM system.
Lead scheduling, implementation and execution of condition monitoring programs for Fixed plant and Heavy Mobile Equipment (HME) assets
Analyze predictive data (vibration, oil, and thermography) to prevent failures, drive RCA, optimize maintenance plans, and ensure safety compliance
Train and mentor technicians and operators on condition monitoring practices and defect reporting
Key Responsibilities
Condition Monitoring Program Management
- Develop reliability management plans and KPIs for mobile and process plant assets.
- Conduct RCM (Reliability Centered Maintenance) studies and create preventive maintenance strategies tailored to site conditions.
- Perform FMEA and criticality analysis for major systems and components.
- Provide technical input into shutdown planning and long‑term asset strategies.
Condition Monitoring & Data Analysis
- Develop and implement condition monitoring strategies for HME and ancillary equipment (oil analysis, vibration, thermography, ultrasonic testing, thickness measurement).
- Ensure timely sampling and analysis of lubricants, coolants, and other fluids; interpret results and recommend corrective actions.
- Coordinate vibration analysis and thermal imaging inspections for critical components.
- Ensure thickness measurement of conveyor belts and chute/bins liners
Data Management & Reporting
- Analyze predictive data, trends, and reports to provide actionable maintenance advice to engineering and production teams.
- Validate and upload condition monitoring data into CMMS/APM systems; ensure data integrity and traceability.
- Generate regular reports on equipment health, trends, and reliability of KPIs for decision-making.
- Collaborate with reliability engineers to integrate findings into maintenance strategies and defect elimination processes.
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure all condition monitoring activities comply with site safety standards, OEM guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
- Promote contamination control and safe handling of samples and monitoring equipment.
Training & Capability Building
- Deliver training sessions for technicians and operators on condition monitoring techniques and interpretation of results.
- Mentor team members build internal expertise in predictive maintenance and reliability improvement.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Reliability Engineering, or related field.
- Certifications in condition monitoring techniques (e.g., Vibration Analysis CAT II/III, Thermography, Oil Analysis) are an advantage.
- Strong safety permit to work and LOTOTO system understanding
- 7+ years of experience in condition monitoring and predictive maintenance within mining or heavy industry.
- Hands-on experience with oil analysis, vibration monitoring, and thermographic inspections on HME.
- Proficiency in condition monitoring tools and software; ability to interpret complex data sets.
- Knowledge of CMMS/APM systems and integration of condition monitoring data.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Language: French & English desirable.
- Ability to work in remote mining environments and travel as required.

About the Simandou Project
The Simandou Iron Ore Project is located in the Republic of Guinea, West Africa. It is Africa’s largest infrastructure and mining project and represents one of the largest known reserves of high-grade iron ore in the world.
Rio Tinto holds rights to Simandou Blocks 3 and 4 through SimFer, a joint venture between the Government of the Republic of Guinea, Rio Tinto and Chalco Iron Ore Holdings (CIOH). Construction of the mine, together with the associated rail and port infrastructure, is well underway with first production from the SimFer mine expected in 2025.
